Had I read the product description, I would have noted that some assembly was required, including drilling the mounting holes for your bracket to mount the lens. The lens is a nice thick piece of plastic. I was a little nervous about drilling the holes as the selection of the proper drill bit is critical, as a too aggressive of a bit will tend to crack the plastic. With a proper drill bit and a gentle hand on the drill press this worked just fine. I would be cautious of trying this with a hand drill. It was larger than the stock cover, which is great.

Some reviewers complain about what you get, but if you don't like what it is, then don't order it! It is simply a replacement grinder guard that can be custom mounted to fit different grinders. I have old grinder I got at an estate sale and it replaced one of the guards that was so scratched I couldn't see through it. It does the job. Very pleased.

This is a little thicker than the one that I had on my grinder before, but the one I had was so badly scratched up that it was worthless. I had to modify my mounts a little to make it fit but that wasn't hard to do. it's nice to be able to see my my workpieces again.

Well made lens. Seems a little small, but my grinder didn’t come with one so nothing to compare it too. Would for sure recommend. Comes with good quality screws also.

I guess every grinder is different. So I wasn't surprised when I had to drill holes in the plastic to install the plate. It was easy. Measure out the first hole, drill and install, then drill second hole with the plate in place. Used a 1/8 drill bit.

I plan to use this to replace the plastic shields on my old Sears Craftsman grinder. I'll need to fabricate a new bracket and if that works out well, I plan to purchase a second shield. This kit is a little bit expensive for a piece of 1/4" plexiglass, but it's nicely cut with rounded edges and corners.

This item functions fine for its intended purpose but there is not much to this item.It is a piece of Lexan material that about 4" x 5" x 1/4" thick. The material has nicely radiused corners and all edges are rounded. It comes with two screws and nuts to use for mounting - to replace the original screws on the grinder, which may be too short for this material thickness. There are no holes in the eye shield for the mounting screws; the user has to drill their own to match the screw pattern of the mounting bracket on their grinder. This is understandable given that all eye shield brackets don't have the same screw hole spacing. An eye shield on my bench grinder had broken long ago. It was made of very thin material, so this thicker eye shield replacement is a definite upgrade, and I am happy to have it. However, given the $14 price for a small rectangle of Lexan, and especially considering that I have to drill my own mounting holes, I don't feel this is a good value and I likely would never buy another one at this price.
