TL;DR - A pretty good, lightweight portable scrim, but not without some inconveniences.DISCLAIMER - This review sample was provided to me free of charge. The opinions expressed are solely my own with no input from either manufacturer or Amazon. For context I work as a professional photographer.Overall, I like this scrim. The frame is quick and easy to setup, it's light weight, and is surprisingly rigid. Although, the tripod pin is quite slow to install and requires an Allan key, which I guarantee will be lost on the first job out in the field. But they include two, so at least you've got a spare. In terms of the boom pole, again not too shabby at all. It feels solid, and while the plastic used isn't exactly the highest quality, it gets the job done. Treat it gently and it should survive just fine for years, but if you work in fairly rough conditions, this isn't the pole for you.The elephant in the room is obviously the price. It's expensive for what it is, and for my own uses I would rather just have the scrim than the included pole.If you're intending to use this for product photography, you're probably just better off buying the scrim alone if that's available as the pole's utility is quite limited in that context. But if you're intending on using this on location where you have assistance then by all means. Though sticking it on a light stand is still likely a more efficient use of the scrim.Personally speaking, I'd be on the fence about purchasing this setup at it's msrp. The pole isn't exactly useful for me, and while the scrim frame is nice, the setup is tedious. If it went on sale I'd be more inclined to recommend it, but again it really depends on your use case. There are many cheaper alternatives to diffuse light and unless you absolutely need a scrim I'd be inclined to recommend not purchasing this setup, but you know your use case better than I do.But objectively it's a cool bit of kit and while I may not pay full price, I do think it's a good product.4/5

Excellent tool for diffusing light, whether it is on a studio light or the Sun, it is great for outdoor or indoor portraits. I love the fact I can have an assistant hold it and also mount it on a light stand when I am at a session working alone. It is very portable, ideal when you are working on location. Lightweight and handy. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. Very handy tool for softening light.

Deal alert:Save 50$ with voucher coupon. At the time of writing this review. This is my review for the NEEWER light diffusion panel scrim kit with silver white and opaque reflector film. This product offers great build quality and a long boom pole for all you're shooting needs. The build:Again NEEWER does not disappoint with an all around excellent product built from the ground up with work in mind. It offers a great design that is easy to assemble with it's quad click mechanism. Yet folds up to a vary portable size, for on location shoots. The aluminum frame is light weight yet vary sturdy. Providing the end user with longer work hours with less discomfort. The materials on offer for the panels are well designed and seam to be thicker and a bit more wrinkle free. Then other sheets I've tested. The 4 elastic bands used to fix the panel to the frame, are well designed with good stretch and snap bak. They are also well sowed onto the sheets with good seem work and double stitching. Offering hopefully a long work life. The boom pole is heavier in comparison yet features a rugged and well designed system with shock cushioning in the form of air pistons. The pole is compact at only2.6ft. Yet can extend to an impressive 7.9ft if need be. You can attach microphones, scrims, reflectors, LED video lights, or studio monolight flashes with a softbox, beauty dish, snoot, and other light modifiers. Made of sturdy aluminum alloy, this boom pole is lightweight yet can support a device up to 4.4lb/2kg. Do not exceed the recommendations above since you might damage the pole or equipment and void you're warranty. In use:So this unit is perfectly suited for many on location problem solving. Especially in the lighting and occlusion department. You can really dial in what look you are trying to achieve even on a windy day. Compared to other ( flimsier ) units on the market. That won't make the cut in less then ideal weather.Scenario 1 You've found the perfect location yet the sun is to harsh and you need some shade for you're talent the ( opaque diffusion scrim ) will save the day. Offering a large enough occlusion with some of the suns natural colour. It will shade you're actors face allowing for the lighting crew to add their final touches even of a sunny day.Scenario 2 You can't seam to get the lighting and shadows on you're talents face of body just right. Well then the solid white reflector can save the day. Adding just the right amount of nature fill to your subject helping you achieve the perfect shot with appropriate contrast. You can place the reflector in many different angles helping you achieve the look you desire.Scenario 3 you've found a great dark environment yet need some extra bounce lighting. Yet you're main secondary light source just bit the dust. Well fear not, the silver reflector is there to save the day. Acting like a defuse mirror it can project a high amount of bounce lighting anywhere you might need it. Especially when exposed to direct sun light or high lumen sources.Final thoughts:If you are looking for a great all in one solution for on location shoots. That offers a high level of build quality and quick setup. Then this 3 in one scrim with boom pole offering from NEEWER might be what the doctor ordered. 5 out of 5 another great product filled with innovative design and well thought out use cases.

Setting up this light diffuser is a breeze, and it’s been handy for getting those soft, even shots without much fuss. The bag holds everything, including the frame and boom pole, which is great when you're on the move. I’ve used it for small shoots and it fits right into my setup. The only hitch is that you have to remove the baby pin adapter to fit it back in the bag, which can be a bit annoying when you're in a hurry. Also, the corner pieces feel like they might wear out over time. Overall, a solid tool!

I really like this diffusion panel scrim kit. It's an excellent size, which can be applied to lighting of various sizes, and intensities. The handle is well made, nicely cushioned, and extendable to various lengths. It's extremely easy to set up, as it snaps into place, and pretty lightweight given its size. Attaching the modifiers to the frame is also very simple, and is held in place by elastic bands that are sewn into every corner. The frame itself is aluminum, easy to expand, and breakdown. It comes in a roll up carrying case, that sort of resembles a quill when all put together, which does a great job of holding all of the components neatly. I wanted this so that I can have an option for a diffusion panel for my video lighting. I also wanted something that is portable for possible outdoor photography, to use either as a reflector, or diffusion. It's very versatile, and that's one of its strongest attributes. Oddly enough, as a modifier, it's easier for me to set up this diffusion panel, then it is to set up my bowens mount soft box diffuser. The bowens mount diffuser that I have requires me to put in every rib to build it up, and of course to remove every one of those when tearing it down. I find that a tremendous pain, and waste of time. By contrast, this diffusion panel sets up really easily, and gets put away just as fast. All in all, it is a little on the pricey side, but it is also a quality photographic, and videography accessory. It's well made, easy to use, easy to transport, and easy to store. The only thing I wish it had come with would be a set of tripod feet, because I like the option of being able to use it while it stands on its own. You can of course attach some tripod feet to it if you currently own some that will fit, but if you don't own any, you could do like I did, and bungee cord it to a light stand. I think that overall it's a great tool for photographers, and videographers, so I would recommend it.

I had a lot of fun with this. The system is super quick to assemble and deploy, and once you get used to how to break it down you can have a diffuser up and ready in seconds (not minutes). The bag they give you is good enough not to just hold the diffuser panel and quick expand frame, but also the telescoping handle they give you. The quality on all the stuff is pretty good, with the only thing I think that could be better is if they gave you two rip stop nylon white panels only because how much these get abused and stained over time. The extending pole is great quality and usable for more than just the diffuser frame. It's perfect for other things like gimbals, insta360s, cameras, lights and more.Overall this kit is really impressive and useful. Sadly it does require someone to help you with it for the maximum effect since it's not solo user friendly, but if you brought your own light stand and sandbag this could work wonderfully for you.

Color me impressed as to the build quality and value. Neewer’s recent stuff has been much better than years past. It’s still “budget” equipment for sure, but the quality will at least last you a while if you are doing anything but the most intense shooting environments. Perfect for independent creators and travel grip kits, except for ONE caveat.PRO’s:-frame is all one piece that collapses down easily and smoothly! Very nice for assembly and take down!-grid fabric is decently thick; doesn’t feel like it will rip at the tiniest gust of wind.-comes with diffusion grid and a silver/silver-white bounce.-frame is well made and a nice material for the price.CON’s-BIGGEST ISSUE: the baby pin adapter has to be removed in order to fit it in the bag! While this isn’t a terribly long process, it’s massively annoying compared to how easy the rest of the kit is. If the pin could just stay on this would be 5 stars easily, or at least just have a threaded receiver in the frame to screw on the pin maybe. It would mean a little awkward of a design on the bag but it would be so worth it to be able to just unfold it and go instead of mess with attaching the pin every time.-also the handheld pin is useless. Just use the baby pin.Overall still a useful frame. Might cut some duvetyne and add Velcro tabs to the frame for a black card for extra flexibility. Would be great if there are more fabrics to add to this kit. Wish there was a slightly bigger size option also

I am quite happy with the performance of this light diffuser; it is very easy to assemble, and it works great—if not better—than other light diffusers. The kit comes with everything you need to set it up and a travel bag, which is very convenient to have if you need a diffuser on the go. I mainly use it for product photography, and this diffuser is perfect for my needs. Overall, this is an amazing light diffuser, and the price-to-performance ratio is quite good. I highly recommend it.

After seeing some behind the scenes footage of hollywood sets, I thought that scrims would be very difficult to even utilize. However, this particular scrim is one that a one-man band could potentially use. This is because this kit comes wtih a boompole. You can then adapt the boompole to a c-stand or light stand using a boompole adapter. Although not included, you can get one for relatively cheap. So, overall, I think this is a decent kit for diffusing light, whether it's outdoors or indoors. It all depends on the project of course, but this is a great way to get started for small/medium subjects.

As a product photographer and videographer, I can never have enough diffusion panels and reflectors. Controlling the light around my subject is essential to achieving that perfect shot. That how diffusers can help with that.Fortunately, the days of needing high-end, pricey diffusers are over. Brands like NEEWER offer quality lighting gear at an affordable price, proving that effective light diffusion doesn’t have to break the bank. While these products might lack a few premium features, achieving great diffusion often only requires basic tools, and sometimes even household items can do the trick. This kit comes with a versatile light diffuser/reflector panel and a handheld pole, which I find particularly useful. The foldable diffuser is incredibly travel-friendly, and the aluminum frame keeps it lightweight and rust-resistant, which is perfect for humid environments. The pole is sturdy and versatile; though I typically mount the diffuser on a light stand for product photography, the boom option would be handy for outdoor shoots with an assistant.Overall, I’m very satisfied with this kit. It’s affordable, practical, and a great addition to my lighting setup.

I really like this panel. It is well engineered, high quality, and easy to open and close once you figure out how to do it.You unfold it and it kind of snaps into a large square -- it's larger than it looks in the photos. The manual does not say how to unfold it once it is snapped in place, so that was a fun puzzle for a few minutes until I realized there are things on the side that looks like they slide but you actually push them in like a button to collapse it. Once you know how to do it it's a breeze. The pole is nice too and doesn't just have to be used for the diffusion panel.Overall, this is a high quality set, as I've come to except from Neewer, and I'm quite pleased with it.
