What this adapter is perfect for is allowing you to use your existing 50amp gen power inlet and connect a 30amp capacity generator/cable to it. What that means is that I can use my backup 7500w generator or my new primary 9,500w generator to connect to my panel (with interlock on main) via my new 50amp power inlet.

remember, you are powering a 30 amp circuit with a 15 amp cord. You hopefully will just blow a breaker but you could start a fire. Other than that warning, its simple and functions.

I'm installing a 50 amp generator inlet to the house and wanted the flexibility of using the 30 amp outlet of my current small generator as a backup in case of a problem with the large one. This adapter seems to do the job, it snaps in and locks securely to the inlet box. Since it extends almost past the cover of the inlet box, some precautions should be taken if connecting or disconnecting in wet weather. This is a pretty simple device primarily for temporary use, but the build quality still looks to be pretty good.

Excellent adapter. This perfectly fits my generator inlet box. Our generator is only 30A output but we sized the inlet and wiring for 50A so that it would be ready for V2H (Vehicle To Home) EV support in the future as well as solar input when when Quasar 2 bidirectional charging is available in our area.The 50A side locks in 2 ways. On the plug and the threaded ring. It makes a very secure connection. The body is strong enough to support the weight of the adapter plus extra length of the 30A twist lock, plus a few feet of cable. It makes for a pretty long assembly, but it works.Make sure your generator inlet box is tough and screwed solidly to your structure.
