The JRC4558 consists of two independent, high gain, internally frequency compensated operational amplifiers which were designed specifically to operate from a single power supply up to 20 volts. Operation fromdual power supplies is also possible and the power supply current drain is essentially independent of the magnitude of the power supply voltage.

I picked these up for use in some DIY overdrive pedals I have planned. Tested a couple on a breadboard, and they worked as expected.Value is debatable at $.70 each at time of purchase. There are less expensive, higher qty for the money options available.

I play electric guitar in bands and use effect pedals to "paint" my sound. These 4558's are found in so many pedals and I wanted to have some for backup in case I have a failure, which I've had before thanks to an outdoor gig where it rained and shorted out my overdrive pedal. I installed a socket so I can easy swap in and out these IC's. I tried these out and they work fine. Good value for these well known IC's.
