A unique innovation, the Hook & Moor telescoping mooring hook lets you easily and safely thread a mooring rope through a mooring ring with a simple pull or push. It's always ready to use with no loading, messenger or guide lines. Just use your real mooring line. Eliminates the risk of going overboard when mooring to a buoy. It can also be used as an ordinary boat hook when the head is in the locked position. Made of glass fiber reinforced PA 66 and forged aluminum.

This product is made in 5 different extended lengths. Go to the Hook & Moor website for details. The one sold here is the shortest length and only suitable for small boats. Do an internet search and you'll find other retailers with longer versions for less money. I'm returning it and getting a longer one, but otherwise it looks like a clever and well made device.

I've only used this item a few times, so I could change my mind about this review. The idea here is to help get the boat to the dock. All too often the stern drifts away from the dock before a person can disembark if there's any wind or current. Still, if you get off in the stern, the pilot needs to get the boat as close as possible so you can reach the dock with the hook item. The two times I've used it went well, but again, the pilot needs to do his best to swing the stern toward the dock...easier to do if you have twin engines, which we have. Also you use it to could grab other items that are floating in the water.

Broke on 2nd use. Can’t fit through some eyelets. Won’t release. Too flimsy for the heavy metal eyelets around San Juans and beyond. Save your money. Expensive for being so ineffective.

This products works well as long as you can keep the hook part from sliding out while you are hooking on to a mooring ball....otherwise it closes the hook part. But once you get the hang of it ....works great!!

Best help when docking single hand, very easy to use. Only complaint is a bit bulky but once you figure it out how to hold it to suit you.
