Not perfect depth perception or angles but Perfect as a dashcam for accidents or review camera for not hitting things or tow hitch

I'm very unhappy that it failed.I liked the quality of the video and the utility of the product. It was excellent for night driving as the lights from cars behind you could not be blindingly bright. What I didn't like was that on bright days the video on the screen was easily washed out by reflections and glare making it difficult to see what was behind you. What I liked even less than that was the fact that it simply stopped working after only 23 days of use. At least it failed inside the return window, and I can send it back.Takes some work and a little know how to install neatly hiding the cables.Does not come with any memory.

EDIT 10/25/2022: This is a long overdue update, sorry seller, life got busy. Anyways, the seller sent me a new set to see if it stops the flickering and sure enough, the first one I got was defective. Now it works great and does not do all the annoying things it did before. 5 star to the seller for making things right!!! Would buy again if I needed another one.Even though I bought this back in February I was just able to install it now at the end of August because life is too busy. The install went pretty straightforward and replacing the previous review camera mirror similar to this. The reason I was replacing it is because the old one would restart itself during the really hot days here in Houston. I bought this thinking it would be a better build quality seeing how it is newer however I am so wrong and it is a lot worse. The cable that came with it was about 3 ft shorter than the one that it replaced so I had to get a little crafty on how to wire it through my 2007 Sport Trac. Once I got everything wired plugged in and turned on the clarity was not bad, I will give it that. However after trying to configure the rear camera angle the unit would shut off then come back on. Shut off then back on. Shut off then come back on. Mind you this is a brand new unit and it's only 84° outside. I know I am outside of my return window so I guess next time I should install it sooner or coordinate my life schedule around installing things like this in my truck. 0 / 10 would not recommend at all.

I haven't install this yet as I broke the end of the cable from the camera to the mirror. I contacted the company and was initially told that they did not have extra cables. However, after contacting the company again they did ship out a replacement cable to me the next day. I expect to install the system next week.

The short of it:The NexiGo D80 dashcam has impressed me. I'm impressed with the clarity, both in the daytime and the nighttime. I also really like the simplicity of the menu system in using a touchscreen display. A simplistic operation is much appreciated in this house. With this dashcam, you don't need to have that 'techie' friend or family member always coming to help you do the simplest operations. If you can operate and navigate a smartphone, then you can overall operate this dashcam.Details:This dashcam mounts right over your existing rearview mirror. If you need your rearview mirror to keep watch over your youngin's in your minivan, you may need a different type of dashcam. You can mount the rearview camera inside of your vehicle so you can see the interior, but you then lose the view and also recording the action happening behind your vehicle. Moving on.I chose to mount my rear-facing camera on the rear of my vehicle. I am impressed with the mounting options that came with the camera. I found myself thinking a few times about how well-thought-out different small things are. For instance, it came with a plastic tool for prying back moldings, and etc., used in routing the cable that goes from the rear camera to the dashcam head unit. Although it was plastic, it was a better quality plastic that didn't break or excessively bend when I really applied leverage to some parts of my Nissan's interior trim.Installation Tip:Find an area where you think you would like to mount the rear-facing camera and temporarily mount it with masking or duct tape. Run the cable in any way possible to just temporarily attach it to the mirror head unit and have a look at what your view looks like mounted in the proposed location. This way you can move the camera around to different possible mounting points to see what you like best.Additionally, I didn't realize it until after I already had my cameras mounted that you can touch and drag the dashcam screen to view higher or lower on both the front and rearview cameras!BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! haha [I love that cheesy line]If you swipe the dashcam screen right or left you are choosing front or rear camera views. BUT, if you opted to attach the extra wire to your reverse lights, when you place your car in reverse it tells the camera to switch to the rearview, AT THE VIEW YOU CHOOSE! What this means is, place your vehicle in reverse so that the reverse view activates, now scroll up or down to get just the view you like when you are backing up. Now anytime you place your vehicle in reverse, it will always go to this last view height you chose. This is great because as you drive down the road, you don't necessarily need to see as far down as you do when backing up. The camera makes the changes you set them at for each view. This tells me that a lot of mental effort went into designing the firmware to operate this dashcam setup. And if that much went into having a smoothly operating firmware, then it generally means that the hardware was also well-engineered.When placing the vehicle in reverse, there are the guidelines that display on the screen. These lines can be adjusted by touch, grab, and move just where you want them. I suggest backing your vehicle into an area you would typically park and then drag the camera screen guidelines exactly where you would like them. Or you have the option to turn the guidelines off if you don't want or require them when going in reverse.Personally, I love it when, after purchase, I begin using something that I keep finding new little things that impress me. That has been my experience with the NexiGo D80.The negative:This negative is subjective to the specific person using the dashcam; it is the lack of having either a built-in GPS receiver or the option to buy an add-on GPS receiver. The model D80 has a port to attach an external GPS receiver antenna, but, according to NexiGo, no GPS receiver is currently available for purchase. They expect to have one available at some point in the future. For those who aren't clear on the purpose of the GPS receiver, it gives you the added functionality of logging speed, location, and other data to your video. The GPS function will also set your dashcam clock so that it is continually updated and accurate.GPS information can give reasonably accurate information if you're ever in an accident and you're being accused of driving 75 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The officer or court can see the logged info on the video recording as to your speed within reason. But if you were doing 75 in a 55, it will also show that. This is why some may love GPS data, or some may be afraid of it.Rear camera cable length. On my Nissan Sentra, I ran the cable from the back of the rear trunk lid, along the side of the car, and up into the trim over the doors and the head of the driver to the camera. I had about three (3) feet of cable leftover that I carefully lapped into an area that would hold it. If I had been installing this into a full-sized SUV or work van/truck, there would not have been enough cable to make the run. I didn't inquire NexiGo company if they have additional cable extensions available if needed for such a long-run application.Nighttime Viewing:I'm impressed with the light gathering capability of the cameras implemented in the NexiGo D80 setup. The clarity is impressive as well.Overall View:NO BLIND SPOTS!! This is the one thing that is worth GOLD! Even with the camera mounted on the very rear of the vehicle, there are no blind spots to the left or right of my Nissan Sentra. As a vehicle approaches either side and passes, I will see the vehicle to my left or right before leaving the rear camera view. There is a trade-off in having such a wide view to the rear. It will make objects appear further away than they are. This is also why vehicle manufacturers that little text note at the bottom of the passenger side door mirror. The rear camera also comes with mounting brackets to allow mounting it inside the vehicle on the interior side of the back glass.Summary:The NexiGo D80 Dashcam is a definite buy if you can sacrifice the use of your rearview mirror for keeping an eye on the interior of your vehicle. If you have a longer full-sized vehicle, check if the company has an extension cable available for the rear camera.I love that this camera has the feel in your hands of being a quality product. I have no regrets about purchasing the NexiGo D80 for my vehicle and gladly recommend it to friends and family. For those concerned about buying from a domestic company, according to their website, NexiGo is an American-born brand based in the United States. So far, I've been impressed with any NexiGo product I've bought. They have the feel of quality and are well-engineered. Their user manuals are even written in real American English.
