NICHE PISTON

An ATV piston is a component of engines, pumps, and gas compressors. It is located in a cylinder and is made gas-tight by piston rings. In an engine, its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft through a piston rod and or connecting rod

Piston Anatomy

A piston is a cylindrical engine component that slides back and forth in the cylinder bore by forces produced during the combustion process. The piston acts as a movable end of the combustion chamber. The stationary end of the combustion chamber is the cylinder head.

Piston Components

ATV Piston components include the piston head, piston pin bore, piston pin, skirt, ring grooves, ring lands, and piston rings. The piston head is the top surface of the piston which is subjected to tremendous forces and heat during normal engine operation

NICHE GASKET

A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression.

Some Types of Gaskets:

  • Head gaskets create a seal between the engine block and cylinder head. This seal establishes a proper compression and prevents fluid leaks into the cylinders
  • Base gaskets create a seal between the top-end of your engine and the engine cases. Stop pesky engine oil leaks before they cause permanent damage to your engine.
  • The valve cover is sealed to the upper section of the engine cylinder head by a valve cover gasket. As it passes around the camshafts, rockers, and valves, the gasket stops engine oil from seeping out.

This kit looks great but it’s cheaply made. Exhaust ports and intake ports are to small and roughly cut. After installing it ran for 15 seconds and then locked up. After investigating I’m guessing the the rings are the issue due to the cylinder not budging

Came with all the needed parts. The exhaust port didn’t line up exact, but for $100 the 2001 90cc Scrambler is better than I ever had it running. I’ve never completed a top end before and it took me 3.5hours.

I've got 5 sportsman 90s and put namura pistons in 2 of them when they were $14. They ran good. Needed a cylinder for a different one and figured for the price i would try it. Runs as goofs or better than the others with Namura pistons. Cylinder looks cheaper and not the detail work around the ports but, i can't feel the difference in power. I'll buy another when it comes time.

My daughters Polaris 90 was only putting out 71 psi so I need it needed a new top end. I was putting it off and putting it off even though I found this kit for about 50$ but I then received an alert that it was now 35$ so I thought well I can't pass on that. And I am glad I didn't ! I can not speak on the longevity of this kit or this brand because I just installed it and have not ridden it yet. But for 35$ it came with litteraly everything you need to do the top end it even came with a new jug ! seriously 35 $ and it comes with a new jug !!! And even more impressive is the fact it even came with new head studs and a new NGK spark plug! I seriously and honestly do not know how they sell this kit so inexpensively. No it's not a race kit but as it shows in the picture it definitely didn't he job ! From 71 psi to 125 psi that's a huge increase in pressure. Considering the manufacturer recommends at least 115 psi. (I was not compensated in any way for this review it was purchased with my own hard earned money)
