What is a Drive Sprocket?

  • Sprockets are rotating parts with teeth that are used in conjunction with a chain to transmit power
  • In order for sprockets and chain to be compatible with each other they must both have the same thickness and pitch.
  • In order for the sprockets and chain to work effectively, all of the sprockets should be on parallel shafts with their corresponding teeth on the same plane.

OEM MPN's: 13144-1253,42041-0090, 42041-1260,92057-0011,92057-0019,92057-1367

Parts of a Sprocket

  • Number of Teeth - The total number of teeth (projections) around the whole circumference of a sprocket
  • Pitch Diameter (PD) - An imaginary circle which is traced by the center of the chain pins when the sprocket rotates while meshed with a chain
  • Pitch - The amount of pitch diameter in inches per tooth. Gears with a larger pitch will have bigger teeth

OEM MPN's: 519-KCS0880K-K001

When to Replace?

  • Check how well the chain meshes with the sprocket teeth. In a healthy chain and sprocket combo, the individual chain rollers align perfectly with the spaces between the sprocket teeth and fit down into those U-shaped grooves evenly
  • Look closely at the sprocket teeth to see if they have become sharp at the tips and/or slightly curled. The teeth on a new sprocket are straight and have a flat or domed shape at the tip, If the teeth are sharp, the sprocket is worn

  • Replaces chain immediately if it comes in contact with the battery acid. Clean your chain if it comes in contact with salt water or rock salt and lubricate it after cleaning.
  • Do not use harsh solvents or chemicals such as Benzene to clean your chain. We recommend lubricating your chain at every 300-350 miles with a lubricant specifically designed for your chain.

This Niche chain and sprocket set was a direct fit for my 2009 KLR 650. Runs smooth with no issues. I had a more difficult time trying to verify the torque settings for my bike…

I purchased this sprocket and chain set for a Kawasaki KLR 650 as a new product for road trip. The price was less expensive than other brand-name products and I was on a budget. The travel was 90% highway and 10% city driving for about 3000 km. No off-road travel. The chain stretched so much that I had to adjust it 4 times. I noticed the O ring chain was louder than any of my previous chain products. By the end of the trip the rear sprocket was totally worn and each tooth was in the shape of a checkmark. Unfortunately, I have to replace the entire product as it is unsafe to continue using it.

•The chainThe chain was really well made and easy to put on thanks to having a master link(although the X-ringsthat came with it were quite thick and made it difficult to put the master link on.The chain seems to be extremely well made and hasn't stretched at all in 3000 miles.•The rear sprocketThe rear sprocket went on without a problem and seems heavier than the factory one so I'm guessing it will probably last longer.•The front sprocketThe front sprocket was a bit different than the factory part. My factory sprocket had rubber and this replacement is solid metal. It also looks like it spaces the chain a little further from the engine (keep in mind this chain is physically wider than my factory chain it might not be safe to run this chain without the new sprocket)The front sprocket went on without much issue but it would be possible to put it on backwards and have The chain rub a hole in your case especially considering it doesn't look like the factory one so you're not just putting it on the same way as the one that came off.•Other stuff in the boxIt came with a small pamphlet of non-specific instructions (showing you the proper way to put the master link in but nothing specific to the bike)It also came with a tube of chain oil. I did use it and it seems like really good stuff pretty thick and extra slippery (maybe a silicone based).•Side noteIt doesn't tell you this but you should put the oil on the o-rings before you finish putting the master link together if you want it to hold up as well as the rest of the chain.

Only time will tell on the long term durability but I've now covered 1000 miles with limited stretch of the new chain, cant be beaten on price and I liked the split pin fastening instead of having to use a special tool to flare pins.
