What is a Drive Sprocket?
- Sprockets are rotating parts with teeth that are used in conjunction with a chain to transmit power
- In order for sprockets and chain to be compatible with each other they must both have the same thickness and pitch.
- In order for the sprockets and chain to work effectively, all of the sprockets should be on parallel shafts with their corresponding teeth on the same plane.
Parts of a Sprocket
- Number of Teeth - The total number of teeth (projections) around the whole circumference of a sprocket
- Pitch Diameter (PD) - An imaginary circle which is traced by the center of the chain pins when the sprocket rotates while meshed with a chain
- Pitch - The amount of pitch diameter in inches per tooth. Gears with a larger pitch will have bigger teeth
When to Replace?
- Check how well the chain meshes with the sprocket teeth. In a healthy chain and sprocket combo, the individual chain rollers align perfectly with the spaces between the sprocket teeth and fit down into those U-shaped grooves evenly
- Look closely at the sprocket teeth to see if they have become sharp at the tips and/or slightly curled. The teeth on a new sprocket are straight and have a flat or domed shape at the tip, If the teeth are sharp, the sprocket is worn

The quality of the parts are nice, well oiled and looked sturdy but unfortunately the chain was too short on my 2002 Polaris Trail Boss 325. The sprockets fit fine but the chain did not, I had to spend the same amount of money on the kit just for a chain local to me to get my quad running for the weekend rip.

I hope this is a long term product because so far I love it. it's not only beautiful it runs very smooth (be sure to get the chain tension correct)I decided not to replace the sprockets as I doubt the Chinese products will be nearly as hard and strong as the OEMs which are surprisingly still in great condition. That's the main thing here, you don't have to use the sprockets as they mimic the OEM design.

It went on easy, fit perfectly, and works really well.The gears seem really stout and will hold up very well. The chain seems nicer than my old o ring chain that was getting pretty hot and stretching.I have a lot of miles on the chain now and it still hasn't had to be tightened. I thought for sure it would stretch, but it still hasnt. Even in summer.I'm pretty happy.
