As the flagship model within Nikon's DX-format DSLR line, the D500 is characterized by its robust physical construction, apt imaging capabilities, and of course, a more compact, sleek form factor than its FX brethren. Revolving around a 20.9MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 5 image processor, this camera appeals to both still and video shooters with its fast 10 fps continuous shooting rate and 4K UHD video recording abilities. The sensor and processor also combine to avail a native sensitivity range up to ISO 51200, which can be further expanded to ISO 1640000 for working in dark and difficult lighting conditions. Benefitting the fast shooting performance, the D500 is also characterized by its expansive Multi-CAM 20K 153-point AF system, which features 99 cross-type points for fast performance and accurate subject tracking capabilities. While sleek in stature, the D500 is by no means slim on functionality and versatility. Besides the imaging assets, this advanced DSLR also features an impressive handling design that incorporates a 3.2", 2.36m-dot, tilting LCD touchscreen, which affords a comfortable means for working from high and low angles. An updated version of SnapBridge is also featured, which provides Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy technology for linking your mobile device for wireless image sharing. In addition to the convenience features, the D500 is housed within a durable magnesium alloy chassis that is both dust- and weather-sealed for working in inclement conditions and harsh environments.

Best DX camera ever. If it was made as FX - then it is nothing short of d850 (with an even better frame rate). Nikon strikes Gold!

The camera may be ok if I had the opportunity to use it. I bought a refurb and did not get any of the items that normally are included with a camera body. No battery, battery charger. cables, strap, eyepiece were included. I am very disappointed. This is the last time I will buy a refurb item.

Been very satisfied with this camera. Was a little concerned about going refurb to save a few dollars. But his has worked out well for me. You know you want to or you wouldn't be looking. Just go for it...

Upgraded from a D7000. This is light years ahead of the 7000 series, even the new D7500. The colors are more true and brilliant, picture dynamics are more complex, and on par with the more expansive D800 series. If you’re not sure, rent a D500. You’ll fall in love. I did.

The Nikon D500 is amazing. Why did I wait so long to get it? I currently have a D7200 which is also an excellent camera, but it(or I) just couldn't quite keep up with fast moving wildlife. The auto focus on this thing smokes. I love the touchscreen and all of the custom features which can be assigned to various buttons. I bought the refurbished version of the D500 at significant discount and was pleased to find that it only had a zero shutter count on it. Essentially I have a brand new camera at hundreds of dollars off. Five stars all day.
