I’m giving this 4 stars because I guess if a person had 100,000 hours and the patience of the Pope this could be a cool toy. Popping/punching 10 million teeny parts without dropping any of them into the abyss only to be gobbled up by the roomba would be a small miracle in my house, much less having the space to spread this stuff out for a generation, because that’s how long it would take to go to engineering school, complete a masters program in robotics, and then assemble any one of the dozen robots you can build with this set. I can only imagine reaching step number 6,492 in the year 2050 only to discover I’m missing an important piece! Not to mention the review I read that said the thing doesn’t “go” after it’s built. Maybe if I wait 25 years I will have a household robot that could build this thing for me!

This is a cute toy and it is for ages 10 and up as listed on the box. It is a great way for your young pre teen to learn how to build and be creative and take on a new challenge of creating something. This has two stages and the first is the easiest and then it gets much harder but really a good way for your child to learn analytical and building skills.

The Nilez 14-in-1 Solar Robot Kit is an exceptional educational toy that has quickly become a favorite in our household! Designed for kids aged 8-12, this robotics kit is both fun and highly educational, making it a perfect gift for birthdays or Christmas.First and foremost, the kit’s versatility is impressive. With 14 different robot models to build, it provides hours of engaging activities. Each model is well-designed, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for younger builders. My child enjoyed the challenge of assembling each robot and was thrilled with the final results. The solar power feature is a standout. It introduces kids to renewable energy in a practical and hands-on way. Watching the robots come to life using solar power is not only exciting but also educational, as it sparks discussions about energy and sustainability. The quality of the materials is great, and the parts are sturdy and well-made. The kit encourages problem-solving, creativity, and fine motor skills, making it an excellent tool for STEM education. It’s also a fantastic way to get kids interested in robotics and engineering from a young age.The Nilez 14-in-1 Solar Robot Kit is a perfect blend of fun and learning. It’s engaging, educational, and provides a great hands-on experience with robotics and renewable energy. I highly recommend it for any young enthusiast looking to explore the world of STEM!

I am a harsh critic when it comes to toys. This one provides a master class for a budding engineer on the application of mechanics. Once this is mastered, I would recommend the taking apart and mending of mechanical typewriters and sewing machines.Several sheets of injection moulded plastic parts. 75 pages of exploded view diagrams of project assembly (very well done figures). And a bag full of gears, shafts, motors, and electronics. The assembly of the components configured into various devices will likely take weeks.A quibble and a tip. The shipping box is only a shipping box. What this products needs is a clam shell cardboard container such as that used for puzzles. I have used this type of box for years to assemble something containing small parts (in my case old disused clarinets, which is another thing for a young engineer to mess with) without frequent stops to attempt to find things which escaped to the floor.Once off the injection moulded strips, I would keep like parts in a styrofoam (or similar) egg carton that does not have any ventilation openings. It keeps things tidy and ready to use.Other than the box (and repurposing a puzzle box should not be an issue for a resourceful end user) this product would be wonderful for those of the right frame of mind (and likely a torture for those without it). Having that frame of mind, I highly approve.

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I'm doing it this time and hope to save people some time. The concept of a solar-powered robot is great. However, do not assume that you can power it up and that it will store up power for even a few minutes of use inside. Nope, there is no battery. It must be in the sun to work (or a 50-watt halogen bulb, according to the instructions). After hours invested, and use of a file to try to smooth things out that were binding up, we could only get the 'motor' to run, and only without any robot parts added. Once you try to build a robot around it, nothing. It doesn't move at all. Either the 'solar-powered' portion of the equation is too weak to move any parts, or the parts themselves were not engineered to work together. They just bind up. We followed directions very carefully. Two adults (one is an engineer) and one 11-year-old came away very disappointed in this Christmas gift.

I get so sick of seeing my 10 year old grandson's face stuck in a video game. I got him this car robot kit for his birthday. At first the didn't seem very interested. Upon taking it out of the box and seeing how may tiny parts he would have to break out of the mold, he was onplussed. However, his mother (rightly so, in my opinion) quickly told him that was not an acceptable attitude regarding a gift his grandmother had given him and he had better try again. After a while, even though he put the biggest frown on his face, his "cool" uncle came over the table and inquired as to what he was doing. Then, they started working together on the puzzle and wouldn't you know it? My grandson had a BLAST! It turned out to be a really cool project and a lot of fun to play with - not to mention the quality bonding time with his cool uncle, and the sense of accomplishment. Great item. Great gift.
