Real basic gear set. Think of Mad Max making a broom out of metal conduit bolted to a skull with hair on it. The metal is heavy and looks like these tools can take a beating, but they're very basic in design - and I guess that's to be "authentic" to old days when they did with what they had. Anyway, I bought this gear for my son who's interested in the martial arts gear. There is no sizing mechanism, so beware that this is a one size fits all setup. There are also no instructions so you have to figure them out yourself. The hand claws and foot spikes were oversized for him (1st grader) so he'll just be using the grappling hook for awhile. Regarding the grappling hook, there's a nut that keeps the hooks on the threaded grappling bar, so you can imagine this part is pretty important. Unfortunately, the nut isn't a locknut so it comes loose after a couple of throws. I'm thinking your best bet is to immediately weld the nut in place at the very tip of the bar, loose enough to allow the bottom hook to spring down and collapse for easy storage - a design feature I really like. I tried the hand and foot claws myself (I can climb a tree without them) but they're awful for trees. I tried them on a brick wall and they seemed to work better, but you need excellent upper body strength because the foot claws aren't going to help here.

Good product, received what I expected. Grappling hook is sturdy, works well. Foot spikes are good quality, but the ties are just regular laces. Rope is nylon, makes climbing slightly more difficult. Definitely worth the purchase price. A recommended buy

Bought it for my nephew for his birthday and he loved it. The rope is a little cheapies but for the price I paid couldn’t beat it and told him we would go to REI to get a heavy duty one

When we received the box, it looked like it only came with the grappling hook -- there were no pictures and no mention of the hand and foot spike attachment deals that were supposed to come with it. But when we opened the box, everything was inside. :) My 11 year old son loved it! It's a pretty heavy duty hook; we had to tell him no throwing it on the roof and climbing the house. We'll use it for trees and abandoned buildings if we find any.

Had a similar one when I was younger. It's a gift for my kids. Seems like a good quality, haven't used it until weather warms up. Only issue is Cap that covers the screw at the top of the hook came off upon opening package. Not a functional issue just cosmetic.

Very durable. The only thing I'd say is the rope ... although strong enough ... It is thin and therefore difficult to pull my weight up.
