These actually work for protecting pet food from ants!But you absolutely have to make 100% sure that the edge does not touch anything. All it takes is one little "bridge" for the ants to get to your food.I liked them so much I bought more. I use them for feeding garden cats and indoor cats if the ants come inside.

I put some food outside for a stray cat and the ants would invade the bowl at night. Now I placed the bowl on this and no ants ever. It work’s fabulous.

After years of struggling with ant invasions and building and maintaining ant moats, I bought this ant tray.In two words: It works! This is so much easier to keep clean and not a single ant has reached our kitty's food. We have the very small variety of ants so I can't say if it would keep the larger varieties out or not. It has been a huge relief to have this.

I loved this at first. I live in Costa Rica and had SMALL fire ants attacking my cat’s food. This worked like a charm. Then after one year, I started finding a mass of LARGE ants figured out a way to get to his food despite this little contraption. Now I’m filling the bottom with water until I find something else to use. Poop. I thought it was amazing until now.

While it prevented many of the ants, a few were found on top when used with a plate of canned cat food on the patio. Oddly, my cat was terrified of the disc at first, so I have left it near the feeding area for a week now for her get used to it. She no longer avoids the disc, but still will not eat off it. I give it 4 stars because it prevented most of the ants, but not all.

My cat food bowls have been plagued by ants and the only effective solution I found for years was to place it in a tray of water. Until this thing. I must confess I was deeply skeptical about its logic and rationale. Seemed mumbo jumbo to me. But the simple, indisputable fact is that it works. At least for me, at least for a month so far. Not an ant has made it up the platform. So I guess, it’s five stars then!

Update July 20:Shortly after I posted my review below, I noticed that I didn't have any ants. I also noticed the mounds outside my home where they had been coming from, were vacant of ants. I'm thinking that my neighbors with a better landlord had the ants coming in their home and reported it to their landlord. Then a good pest control came and eliminated the colony. I'm grateful. So, I don't think this product stopped the ants. However, for the few days I still found ants coming in, they weren't making it to the top of the deterrent plate. And they were less in numbers. So, I feel it's a good product to keep ants off of what's on the plate. You'll just need to address the ant problem directly.Original review June 15:Desperate to rid my home of ants, I bought one of these for each cat dish. My cats are grazers and putting away their dishes "after they eat" isn't feasible.For the first 7-10 days, there were still a few scout ants coming to the feed dish area. I had been repelling the ants to some degree of success from March to mid-June by spraying white vinegar on my bare floors. The vinegar helped if applied liberally and regularly, but didn't stop the ants.After I began using these plates, I kept applying the vinegar on the floor where they come in and their path to the cat food dishes. And after about 7-10 days, no ants. It was also a cool spell. So I wasn't sure if the temps were enough to keep them away, or if the plates worked.For the past week it's been very hot and usually the ants come looking for food at the cat food stations. I haven't seen a single one in more than one week.I feel so confident that I'm done with ants that today I swept and "mopped" my floors for the first time in months! I believe that this will be effective against most ants. It is important that you don't allow the plate to be near any other surfaces that the ants can crawl on to get onto the plate. I also am diligent about clearing any spilled food my cats don't eat. Thankfully, they're pretty good about eating the food they put on the floor.I recommend this plate. No water to dry and make it ineffective, no gels, no smells, no maintenance except to wipe off the surface and clean up fallen cat kibble.

Estaba algo escéptico porque el plástico no se siente de tan buena calidad, pero si funciona. Los platos o comederos de mis perros están en el garage y siempre tenían hormigas. Con estas bases ni una sola hormiga se pudo subir al comedero.

We have a cat that has a tendency to spill his food all over the place. As a result, we started attracting a lot of ants. We would end up having to wash his bowl every so often because ants would attack the food in the bowl. I was skeptical of this product at first but so far, it has worked very well. There are no ants in the bowl and kitty seems to be happier not sharing his food. We liked it so much, we ended up buying another one for his water bowl.I would recommend you ensure that the tray doesn't touch any other surface on the floor (like a nearby wall or decoration items). This way the ants won't be able to climb up to the bowl from another location.
