This is my 2nd NH-D15s for a new build. I really like the performance, and looks of this air cooler. I never had a CPU temperature the same as the room temperature at idle. I have an i9 12900k teamed up with a RTX 4070 Super, and this air cooler has surpassed my previous AIO in some regards, and equaled performance in others... with the addition of air-cooled reliability that you just can't get from any AIO.With Noctua's higher prices you get much more than a great air-cooler... you also get a quality well-engineered mounting bracket that doesn't tear into the circuit traces around the mounting holes. For some reason my favorite, highly reliable, intuitive, and unfailing brand of motherboard (Gig_by_e) thought putting circuit traces near the cpu mounting holes is a good idea... so I'm always ever so careful installing cpu coolers. One very expensive AIO (NZ_T) really tore into my motherboard with their aio pump bracket supporting screws. Noctua's setup only presses down using a spacer, and nothing moves or turns that touches the motherboard. I also really like that once you install the mounting bracket's 4-screw setup to the motherboard, you can then install/remove the heat sink independently with 2 separate screws without touching the 4 screws attached to the motherboard. It makes for re-applying thermal paste, or cleaning the fan/fins of the heatsink easier without the fear of loosening the main connection to the motherboard. You really do get what you pay for with Noctua... There are other factors involved besides their great cpu cooling capabilities which inherently raises costs. The cooling fins are massive, look retro using the chrome colored version, and tan/brown fan... like the inside of a real old radio or TV from the 1930s... or some WWII secret German communication radio uplink relay. It really looks nice, and leaves plenty of space for my RTX 4070 Super.I really like this Noctua air-cooler. The wire fan brackets aren't easy to remove out of the box the way the company installs them on the furthest fin hooks, but they go back on/off just fine using the closer fin hooking system.... which will make more sense when you see it.One more thing to consider is the simplicity of this air cooler. You plug it in to a fan header, and end of story. Many of these new AIOs, and RGB setups require THEIR specific software to make it all work, and look totally futuristic & pretty... BUT-- I caught their software sending back my PC stats without my permission. I would uncheck the box in Settings giving permission, and an update would undo my privacy setting!!! And it was also puzzling how AIO and newer cases with RGB software won't work correctly unless there's an internet connection!!! That is total BS! This will never happen with a simple plain non-RGB air-cooler.UPDATE: On my old 4-pipe dual 120mm fan air cooler my gaming temps hit 80C +.With a 360 aio the gaming temps were ~70ish... which I returned because of the invasive software needed to run it, and the fans would jump to 100% and loud when the CPU was at 26C idle for no reason...With this DH-15s my CPU is the SAME temp as my room at idle, and new games are now running my cpu temps in the 40s - 53C range at 60% fan speed. Unbelievable! One fan is plenty! One review said the temps were not all that different from the non-s DH-15 with two 140mm fans. It comes with extra clips to add another fan if you want to... but I doubt you need to, and without a second fan you can see and access your RAM sticks if they're RGB, or want to add/remove the modules.UPDATE 1/19/2025: Ran a stress test on my i9 12900k. At 100% load my CPU temperature did not exceed 71 degrees C.

Noctua has a reputation in the PC enthusiast community as being a manufacturer of some of the best case fans, CPU coolers, and accessories for coolers and fans. As many other reviewers will rightly note, Noctua's SecuFirm 2 system makes mounting rather simple, but you will need to pay attention to what motherboard you have and choose your mounting hardware from the included accessories accordingly. The included installation manuals cover the four currently predominant sockets, and the instructions are fairly easy to follow, provided that you RTFM.The included NT-H1 thermal paste is a good all-around performer. It's not best in any one area, but it's good enough that most anyone would be quite satisfied with its performance by all sensible metrics. There is enough in the tube that one should be able to reapply paste about two or three times after initial installation. Do note that the cooler does not come with paste pre-applied, likely to prevent dryout, and to save a labor step, but it also means that out of the box you have a pristine surface on the cooler, should you choose to use a different compound on your CPU.The screwdriver you get in the box is nothing special, but it does not cam out of the screws, and it is long enough to comfortably reach the mounting screws on the cooler itself. While it would be nice if the tool had a proper handle, space and budget constraints lead to the adequate, if austere, design. The included low-noise adapter (a short length of cable with an included component to reduce the speed of a fan plugged into it) is a nice accessory to have, the average user will never have a need for it; the included NF-A15 fan runs quietly enough that you probably won't notice whatever noise it might make. The included metal Noctua case badge is a nice touch for users who want to show off their taste in hardware. The cooler will fit with millimeters to spare in most cases, and Noctua offers a compatibility list to help buyers determine if a given cooler will fit a given case. With the included NT-H1 thermal paste, and the included fan mounted between the towers, my i7 7700 idles around 30 degrees Celsius, and hits about 60 under a CPU burner load in FurMark 1.24.0.0. This is in a Cooler Master NR600 with three Noctua NF-F12 fans mounted in the front as intake, and a fourth mounted in the rear of the case as exhaust, at an ambient temperature of about 18.3 degrees Celsius.I will absolutely buy an NH-D15 variant again.

Best cooler out there, almost equal to D15 in thermal performance if you add an extra fan. Extremely happy with it. it was delivered on time and the customer service is excellent. They actually reached me befor shipping the product to confirm the compatibility with my machine.

I have a iBuyPower gaming pc that came with a proprietary water cooling system. I wanted to overclock my i7-8700k but the cooler couldn't keep my temperatures below 90C while using a simple 4.7ghz oc on my rig under stress. I read the reviews, like you're doing now, and decided to pull the trigger.I love this cooler. The mounting system provided was, at first glance, intimidating. But once I started putting it together, I found it to be very straight-forward, and actually quite easy by simply following the provided instructions. After installing the system, I immediately noticed a 10-15C drop in temperature under load!No doubt, this thing looks like a part from an industrial machine, and some may be turned off by its appearance. It is bulky, and takes up a large amount of room and may not fit in some smaller cases. This model is designed to be more compatible with most MOBO's (Fits my Z390 A Pro MSI board with clearance for my ram and the gigantic RTX 2080ti in there along with high-rising RAM sticks). And runs very quiet unless the CPU is under full load, but even then is quieter than my old liquid cooling setup. If you're ambivalent about whether to choose this fan, I would personally highly recommend this product. It's a bit pricey for an air-cooling fan, but you definitely get the quality in build, design, and performance. I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase and I love my Noctua!
