This V4 tamper has further improved on the central shaft design, also the interchangeable springs (15lb/ 25lb/ 30lb) are now applicable to the central shaft which provides pressure directly to the coffee grounds.

I’ve owned a Normcore v4 tamper before and I loved it! Only reason I got this one was due to upgrade in machine (54mm to 58mm). The handle is a little darker than the photo but it looks amazing either way. It’s a really nice fit, you can feel the quality of the tamper.

Out the box the product looks amazing. However upon closer inspection I realised the product had been used. This was evident from the left over coffee residue. The tamper was also received with one missing spring and when in use the tamper gets stuck every now and then. Very disappointing as I’ve skipped much cheaper brands thinking I’d get quality with normcore which wasn’t the case.Update :Normcore have replaced the tamper with a new item that’s working perfectly. Customer service is excellent

It works well but broke after 3 usages, the base is make of plastic and the inner opening broke off when pushing the piston through it after I changed the spring. Besides that it was nice to use before it broke

The diameter of this tamper is snug enough that there is minimal if any coffee that does not get tamped at the edges of the puck using a straight walled basket.

This tamper takes one variable out of the espresso process, which is massively helpful when there are so many. I've been mastering my technique with the breville tamper and even still, getting a puck that is even thickness, no taper, is not guaranteed. This one gets you a perfectly flat puck without any technique. Definitely worth it. The extra weight only works to help mash those grounds in there. I'm very happy with this tamper, it has elevated our daily coffee routine.

Very nice tamper and creates a very even puck. Solid and results are reproducible. Need to brush after each use in between the spring plate, but that's expected. Otherwise a great accessory.

There are countless of tampers available on Amazon so finding the right one without breaking the bank and will also make you appreciate what a quality tamper feels and look is a tall task. Luckily, Normcore has been making a lot of quality products for espresso lovers and their 58.5mm Espresso Tamper v4 is one of their best. That extra 0.5mm matters since many baskets do not start at 58mm at the top and instead would taper a bit until they reach 58mm. I've had a couple of other tampers that can leave some coffee fluff on the basket wall, but not this tamper.The action feels great and satisfying in hand, and the self-leveling helps to ensure that you have an even tamper each time. The v4 comes with 3 different springs, but I find that the 20lbs already installed is perfect.Finally, the black titanium finish seems to do a smoother job when you do a little twist at the end of your tamping, and just complements the beautiful walnut knob.
