My husband and I have made a major diet change lately, and kcal reduction is part of that. He has started poaching eggs and wanted an easier way. The $50 pans I'm sure work great, but we both love to cook and have nearly no extra storage space in the kitchen. I bought him this for two reasons: you don't need extra fat, and non-stick is super expensive for something that'll wear out so fast. I've always hated Teflon for that reason. So the eggs stuck a little bit we ran a silicone spatula around each one and only a tiny layer stayed on the s silicone. It was super easy to clean off. Much better than I expected when I bought it. Would buy again ... if it wore out.

The product is pretty much what you see. Works pretty well, got a good poached egg. But getting the poached egg out, not as easy as it should have been. I used a metal one and thought this was great, But got a silicone one so they didn't stick. It stuck worse than the metal one, and cleaning it out was a pain in the butt.

I bought this to replace the nonstick metal ones I had which had worn out. I thought this would be a marvelous replacement but after 15 minutes the eggs still hadn't cooked. I had put exactly the amount of water recommended but the silicone must be too thick. The metal non stick egg poacher takes about 3 - 4 minutes by comparison. After they finally cooked they were rubbery. This is such a waste of gas and time. I would have returned it, but unfortunately had thrown out the packaging it came in.

We have an older metal poaching insert that poached eggs in 3-4 minutes once water boils. I bought this to replace the metal one because eggs stick and it’s a pain to clean. Was so excited about the silicone option but they simply don’t cook well in this and they take forever. The silicone is super thick so maybe that contributes to the situation.

I have tried many versions of poachers. The teflon non-stick, still sticks even with oil, and now the teflon is coming off. I tried some other version of silicone, but it was too deep and the eggs did not fit well on english muffins for eggs benedict and they came out rubbery and took about 16 minutes to get the whites firm. With this red silicone poacher you need to use lots of oil or butter and it took a full 10 minutes in a frying pan with a lid. It is shallow so you have to be careful to not overfill the water. By the time the whites are done, the yolk is a little overdone, not runny like in many restaurants. Having said all that, I like it better than the others I have tried. I am still looking for a poacher that is more non-stick that will cook the eggs faster. Poached eggs just seem to be sticky no matter what. So overall I am happy with it.
