My son was able to improve his tone of his intermediate clarinet with this mouthpiece - buying another year for us before we need to step up to a better clarinet!

I've been playing this for about a month. I brought it to replace a Fobes Debut. Between the focused sound and the price, I think the Debut is the best student mouthpiece on the market. I was playing a much more expensive J&D Hite when I got the Debut as part of a new clarinet. I wanted to move up and try the Nova but the price was too much for me ($175) until I saw it on Amazon for $82. The Nova has much more dynamic range than the Debut and, with work, can provide the same focused sound. For me, it was a good step up as it challenged me to work a bit harder but delivered a really great sound.

First off, I salute Mr. Fobes for making an excellent, yet affordable mouthpiece. When paired with the right reed (my last performance was on a ), it speaks well, allowing me to move from pp to ffff with good tone and articulation.

With the right reed this mouthpiece sounds great. But the reed is important. I started using the reed I used on a Selmer HS*, and it lacked edge and had poor intonation. But when I tried Vandoren reeds, it brightened up, and played more in tune.

Clark W Fobes Nova Series with CF+ facing is a fantastic all around mouthpiece.Flexible enough to play jazz, but solid enough to sound great in classical pieces.Clark was very responsive to any questions I had about the mouthpiece.For me, I have found the sweet spot for this mouthpiece with 3 1/2 strength Vandoren v12 reeds.

This by far is the Best mouthpiece that i have ever used......it is easy to blow and is responsive......will be trying more advanced Clark W.Fobes mouthpieces in the future.....
