Just like the jacket, the only reason for missing perfection = no pockets. So, if you're not lifting up the jacket to get a tissue or your keys, you're pulling down the pants. They provide excellent protection, are breathable, and really roomy enough to put over jeans without a problem and still walk or hike. Size idea = 5'5'' | 145 lbs = medium over jeans / hiking pants. If you think you'll feel more comfortable in a large, they will be long for a 5'5" person. But, cuff the bottom and you're there.

Waterproof? Yep. Breathable? Sort of. Durable? Not at all. Tears in the waterproof layer in the seat area from one ride in the rain. These are indistinguishable from Tyvek painters' pants. If it rarely rains and you need something to have just in case of emergency, then these might be okay. But why not spend a little more and get something actually designed for cycling?

Really waterproof and lightweight, but too large and if not carefully pulled up rip far too easily. Luckily a bit of packing tape solved the problem.

For the 3 months that these worked, they were incredible. They were light, visible, quick to dry, compact, and incredible.BUTThey tear waaaay to easily. With little force, my fingers were able to tear a hole through the band while pulling them up. Then a day later, the crotch tore and made a HUGE hole. Considering that is the spot that would have the most friction while riding, you would think that they would reinforce it. But no. Again, they were great for as long as they lasted. They just did not last long enough.

These really do work in a pinch and believe it or not, your legs don't sweat underneath. Little baggy even with the right fit and you will need to band or tie the right ankle to keep the pants out of your chain. But overall, excellent value being prepared for that downpour. Rode 45 miles in fairly heavy rain and kept dry (and comfortable underneath).

So far it hasn't gotten cold enough here in So Cal to give these an impartial trying-out. I got these for riding my bicycle in the rain. One morning when it began to rain I eagerly donned the pants and matching jacket. By the time I got to work my shorts were soaked... not by rain. By sweat! This product does an excellent job of keeping the rain off but it doesn't "wick" (a fancy way of saying "breathe") so your sweat stays put and saturates whatever you wear underneath the rain gear. If I was in North Dakota that probably wouldn't be an issue (I'm assuming it gets so cold in ND that there is no need to sweat)... but here in warm So Cal that presents problems. Our So Cal winter does - believe it or not - get a bit cold during the mornings, especially on a bike. So I'm sure I'll get the chance to put these rain pants through their paces. For the meantime, though, 4 stars.
