The label says not to be used on stainless steel although several videos recommend it highly. Decided to give it a shot and it works great. Replacing refrigeration compressors with copper to stainless joints. Trick is to heat the copper and apply the flux, then solder. I used a low heat propane torch. Small dab of oatey 5% silver solder and pressure tested for 24 hours with 150 psi nitrogen on my sample. Held perfectly. Will be using this from now on.

A gunsmith reviewing a type of silver solder sold primarily to gunsmiths by Brownells for repairing firearms recommended this flux after not getting the results he wanted from other types of flux. He apparently has years of experience using silver solder in his profession, and indicated that this was his go-to flux for silver soldering, regardless of who made the silver solder. So, it is also recommended for use with various brands and types of silver solder, many of which are sold by Amazon. The advantage of silver soldering is that the joint is amazingly strong, if the parts fit tightly together, and the solder flows at a much lower temperature than when brazing or welding. Even though called silver solder, the percentage of silver is usually quite small, and a little bit goes a long way. I bought this based on the aforesaid recommendation and am waiting for the opportunity to use it.

I had used up my tub like this after 25 years of plumbing copper in many houses. Then I bought a different, more eco friendly crap in a pinch. Oh lord it was junk, was so terrible it was a joke & I tossed it out. I desperately searched for this flux but honestly over the decades of use I took it for granted that I could always get it. Boy was I wrong! Thanks to the big brother government & their crazy continued regulations I had a very hard time finding it once I remembered the brand. All I can say it buy an extra tub to pass down generations to come, it’s that good! Get it while you still can. By the way I have never had a failure or leak with this product after 6 meter on copper plumbing jobs!
