‘98 Ford Ranger 3.0 Liter. This part fit perfectly and was good quality. It stopped the annoying (I thought it was a belt) squeak and headed off major engine damage of the old one failing (Besides timing, it also drives the oil pump). However, It’s not very easy to get at on the Ranger (buried behind a heavy cable), and a little tricky to realign. after watching multiple YouTube videos, I found the easiest way was to take a picture of the old one’s alignment before removing it.

This part came with a special tool to synchronize the unit when installing into the engine, however it would have been nice if the seller let everyone know thar it came with the tool, as I paid 50 dollars on a tool kit, that I didn't need.

Came with the install “tool” that skilled mechanics won’t use but if it makes you feel better, right? Still they didn’t over charge for that, I got it installed without a hitch and life is good.

I bought this for my 2008 Ford Ranger 3.0L and looked good when it arrived but that's where my approved ended. I installed it correctly and it ran for a short while till the lower stem of then synchronizer came loose causing me to loose oil pressure and damaged my engine. It's cheap for a reason. Stay far away

If you've been dealing with a squeaking 3.0 Ranger and you've already changed the belts and pulleys, only squeals at idle and you hear it coming from the rear of the engine bay it's probably this part. I had to search the forums of the internet to find this damn squealing issue and I was tempted to buy the OEM Ford part but since this got decent reviews I decided to go for it. I didn't replace the sensor as mine didn't look bad or damaged and after doing my fair share of maintenance on this 200k mile truck, if it ain't broke..well you know the rest.I'm giving it 5 stars for now but I will update this review if it starts squealing again and how many miles it lasted. Hopefully it can last at least 75k-100k miles. So far so good though.

The warranty will be voided if the sensor is taken off, but you have to take it off to set the unit in the right timing, got you coming and going! And they do give you the tool but it has to void the warranty to use it properly! WOW!

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 3.0L flex fuel1. Bad: As mentioned disregard the void warranty sticker as you have to take the sensor off to install it.2. Bad: Don't use the supplied full thread bolts on the sensor... they sould be half threaded for best fit... I swapped out the ones on my old sensor.3. Good: My sensor came with a triple roll pin which is the same as a factory one will come with... heavy duty... nice! If it shears off you will lose oil pressure and go boom!4. Good: It also had grease on the upper shaft pre-installed. I pre-lubed mine with a oil can. Make sure you coat the gear with oil, let it idle for a minute when starting for the first time. See pic5. Good: Come with a plastic alignment tool and worked perfectly.6. There are plenty of good install videos on YouTube. Install at TDC compression stroke... As long as you use the tool, sensor base does not need to be perfect. It can be to the left or right just make sure the connector plugs in with out any strain on the loom/plugGot ride of my P1309 as the gears were worn out.

My 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 with 182,000 recently developed the dreaded chirping noise from the original camshaft synchro. This, so far, has been a good, inexpensive replacement, and looks to be built well. It's a dead simple install and only took ~20 minutes ensuring everything was lined up properly. There's a "Warranty void if removed" sticker on it that crosses between the sensor and synchro that's pretty silly since you have to remove the sensor in order to actually install the part.
