I bought a pair of these stands (SSP7900) less than a year ago. The thread on the knob of one of the stands went bad and it looks like the second is on the way out too. My speakers are 16.7 lbs and I use the pin in “most” cases.

Great Stands, very sturdy. Nice case that holds both with a separator to avoid scuffing during travel.

Most every professional speaker that I own is too heavy or large for a pole mount. Recently, I purchased a set of EV speakers for smaller venues. I have an old DJ lighting truss assembly that in my opinion, is pretty generic. The stands that hold the truss assembly up, are what I expected the speaker stands would be. I could not be more incorrect. The speaker stands are about half the diameter of pipe, half the hardware, but advertise the same weight rating of around 100 lb. Now, these speaker stands may be just fine, but when I compare this to a generic lighting truss that has the same rating, I'm considering sending these back and getting a second lighting truss!

I was using a cheap pair of speaker stands for a few years, and decided it was time for an upgrade. I knew OnStage was the way to go, and I am not disappointed. There are, of course, a couple different variants of stands that OnStage has, but I ended up going with these for a few reasons. The single-strap carrying case is great (though mine arrived with a 2-inch slash through it which seemed to have happened during transit, still holds up though). Other variants came with different pole sizes, but this standard pole size has been tested with standard Mackie and JBL speakers alike, and works just fine. The stands do come with two small plastic attachments to help you if you have speakers with smaller stand holes. They are sleek and durable. I know of older OnStage stands where all the plastic knobs cracked after a few years, but these knobs seem more durable than older ones. I've barely had these for a year so maybe too soon to tell, but they're holding up fine. I only use them about once a month, but they've already been though some beating-up, and still show no issues.I should emphasize that I use these stands only about once a month. I have used other OnStage stands that are much older and have been beaten and bruised a ton, but are still really sturdy. As time wears on, if issues do arise, I will update this review.

My other stands are the taller "Ultimate" brand stands but I wanted a shorter pair for some lightweight speakers (EV ZLX 15's). These work just fine and will not break the bank. They come with a "safety pin" that you can insert in the stand to eliminate the possibility of the stands for lowering. The bag that comes with them is surprisingly good for this price. It has a nice divider to keep the stands from rubbing against each other during transport. Overall a great value.

Great speaker stands for the price! They're just a bit shaky under my heavy (80+ lbs.) Yamaha speakers, but I'm not moving them around at all, so they're fine. They're doing the job I got them to do, so I'm happy.

Very good stands for the money. I'm using them for lightweight PA speakers, and they are plenty sturdy for that. Also the slipcase is a must. It seems well made and makes carrying much easier. And of course the less stuff sliding around in the trunk or van, the better.

Solid. The case is VERY handy as well.Someone stole one of my other pair, so we had to get another set. This is lighter, in a good way. It's easier to handle and comes in this nice carrying case which is convenient when you have speakers, and other equipment.

Like most things by On Stage Stands, the specifications are a bit ambitious. I placed a 60 pound speaker on mine, and they started sliding down. The plastic-on-aluminum clamp at the base doesn't have enough friction. I drilled holes in the tubing and am using a pin and that takes care of it. They use holes and a pin at the upper joint already, not sure why they didn't at the spot where the bottom tube comes out of the base.SUPER light weight, even in the carry bag, these are PERFECT for the small traveling band.
