I bought this item This transfer switch works very well exept the transfer speed could be made faster to like to 3 or 5 ms because when you have sensitive network equipment connected to it like access points they reboot every time it transfers also a smoothing filter needs to be added to make the power smoother well it transfers

Some of the reviews here seem to be about the older implementation. The problems with GFCI tripping and high inductance arcing when switched seem to have been resolved with this new model (maybe around a year old now). The older model used a DPDT relay and as others have described it created problems when running heavy inductive loads. The diagram on the front of the new unit shows that two 20A SPDT relays are used now. It is also visually different inside. The two relays are on opposite sides of the PCB. The relays switch in under 15ms. 60Hz AC cycles every 16.67ms so this automatic transfer switch will switch in less than one cycle which is sufficient for electronics. I wish it were under 8ms just because, but I haven't had any restarts during my switch over testing. I use it as a UPS for computer and networking equipment, and with an adequate inverter it switches seamlessly. Provides for a pretty good UPS with a battery of any capacity. I have not tested with heavy inductive loads but it has handled a 1440W space heater, desktop computer, large 4K TV and several networking switches with no problem for over a month now. At that load it is slightly above room temperature but not really warm or hot. The box runs cooler than the 14 ga cables which are also slightly warmer than room temperature. I am happy with its performance so far and will probably purchase another. Suggestions for improvement would be to replace the input power cables with switched standard C14 panel mount inlets and the output cable with a couple of standard panel mount 5-15R outlets, and to put it in a slightly larger box to accommodate that. Doing so would eliminate the manufacturing cost and assembly of the cables and glands, and would allow the use of standard equipment cables on input and output.

Works great for hydroponics connected to solar panels.. allows u to connect solar power plus electrical grid power.. when solar energy cuts out this device switches u to grid energy.. no power interruption during the switch over.. would highly recommend for saving money on energy bills

Had planned to use this item to provide fail-over power for a refrigerator and freezer in my garage (I live in hurricane country, and have a solar system to provide backup power to critical loads).Every time I tried to use it, it tripped the GFCI circuit in my garage, no matter which way I had it set up. Doesn't matter if the GFCI is on AC1 or AC2... and I tested this with both a GFCI outlet, and a dedicated circuit on a GFCI breaker. Didn't matter... it tripped both.So buyer beware.

This item really fit my needs, and it is really well built, but it failed to transfer power within about 60 days. It just would not transfer the load from my inverter to the AC shoreline. As this was outside the window for an Amazon return, I was instructed by Amazon to contact the supplier. Eventually, the supplier contacted me and acquired the necessary warranty information. I am now waiting for my warranty replacement.

This ATS is in a well made box with good connections and a quality soldering job. It has a simple Puqele P30F JQX-30F relay that releases the solenoid tension when the power goes off the control circuit allowing the spring to flip the unit to backup. This is a very failsafe design. The problem is the gap between the two pairs of contacts is not great enough to eliminate a quick arcing as the power comes back on the control circuit. The chance the two circuits will be in phase is slim and about 1/4 chance they will be near complete opposites allowing an arc of 240 volts. This might be okay for some simple loads but will cause a problem for high induction loads. The ends of my wires were pre-tinned in an unprofessional manner. It made me wonder if the unit was returned already.

I tested this item before installing it, and it looked that it would do what it was supposed to do. However, after running it for about a week, it stopped powering the load. Upon inspection, I realized that the internal coil of the relay (inside the plastic case) was overheating and thus shutting down the power to the load. If you let it unplugged for half an hour, and then plug it in again, it would start working but only for a few minutes at which point it would overheat again and turn off. The most important part, which is the internal relay, is unreliable. After initially testing it, it took me a few months before I was able to install it at its final destination. Therefore I couldn't return it because I run out of time, otherwise I would have return it.
