Used this to connect an optical port to a TV that doesn't have one and it works flawlessly with my Samsung sound bar/wireless sub and even passes the sound from my XBOX Series S through the TV to the soundbar set. It did exactly what I wanted it to do.

Uses a crappy micro USB plug That became unsoldered just by the heat of normal use.

I am using it to convert optical to coax. It is working fine so far. However, the build quality is cheaper than expected: it has sharp corners, the switch seems very fragile, and the USB power port does not allow the plug to go all the way in so that it rests flush against the port (see photo). These aspects don't inspire confidence in longevity and reliability.

Had an older sharp tv with no optical out that I wanted to hook up to a newer sound bar, was fast and easy to install and it worked.

So far, this is working great. After using it for a few months, it continues to perform.

I bought this converter in order to connect the digital coax output from a 2010 vintage LG Blu-ray player to the fiber Toslink input of my new WiiM Pro streamer so I can play CDs.This converter works perfectly for this purpose. The audio is clean and sounds perfect, and hookup was trivial and began working immediately. I merely had to set the input slide switch to the Coax position, connect the two cables and give it power. Nothing else to tweak or fine tune -- it just works.Simple, functional and inexpensive -- excellent value!

I got this converter several months ago. When new, it sounded and measured clean. Lately it started acting up. Nothing obvious, but the very occasional 'tic' when listening to music, as if it's losing sync. Measuring it with Room EQ Wizard it's obvious. A frequency sweep distortion plot shows giant glitches of distortion. It still works, and the glitches are not obvious to casual listening. I suppose that's why it's so highly rated here.

Got too much wiggle from the optical hole. It was tough to get in the first time, and i didnt get any sound. Turned out if i put pressure on the cable in one direction it worked but only with real precise amount of pressure. I believe the optical port was just a bad port, out of spec in terms of where the reciever was in the back of the port and the dimensions of the port its self. To much crackle, couldnt let go of it and get sound.

What "volume control", it does not have one :).It does what it supposed to do, and have sturdy metal case, impressive for the money. Able to connect professional monitors digitally, avoiding unnecessary analog to digital conversion. Sounds impressive, actually makes difference.

Great build quality of the unit and it just does what it is suggested to. No problem with sound quality at all. If you don't have enough coax or optical Jack's on you pre Amp or AV receiver this works great. I used it for long runs in a home theater with one on on each end and run and rca spdif cable between them and works awsome

I chose this product because the description is very carefully written with all the details. This is important because it explains everything and makes buying decisions easier. In my case, I have to switch from coaxial to optical. This converter works with AD/DA audio converter and USB audio interface 24bit/96KHz. In my laptop I have no problem setting the audio resolution and recording stereo audio in 24bit/96KHz. in my DAW without any disturbances in the quality of the sound.. So I can say that the converter is of good quality and meets all the parameters listed in the description. Apart from that, it is built very solidly. Worth buying, I really recommend it.
