One of the best set of nippers I've ever bought.

Good value for the money at this price point. Works great on fly line, mono, braid, and metal leaders but then again with the Orvis name you know you are getting the highest quality at a fair price. Sure you could use drugstore nail clippers and just replace them 10 times a season but after spending that you would have paid for the good ones off the bat

Is it better than nail clippers or any cheaper nippers? No. But it looks cool and has a little Orvis logo which made me tingle in places.

I really like almost everything that Orvis produces, but they missed the mark with this one. For the cost, I would expect it to cut as well as any Umpqua nipper but not as well as my Abel nippers. Not true. The base nipper from Umpqua is better. These Orvis nippers pinch the line as opposed to cutting it. They're also heavier than everything out. there. This isn't a big deal, but ounces do start to add up.

Decent nippers. Nice heft, and the matt black finish feels good, looks good, and doesn't flash in the sun.Time will tell how these last, but would expect a long life. The hook cleaning eyelet is a bit chunky, too thick. I cannot use it on size 18 & 20 river flies; the hooks I use are wide eyed, but even so the point is not fine enough. I will try to file it down a bit, but ideally I wouldn't have too.

High quality. And for the price, great value. Stays sharp.
