Worked extremely well in removing the original pitman arm - it’s been on for 30 years. Used impact wrench.Get this one and don’t wast your time with other pullers. Before getting this one, I tried one of those u-shaped pullers and it broke in spectacular fashion.

This made the job of removing the hard to get to ball joints on the W126 chassis Mercedes a breeze. Good thing I have more than one W126 because the cost on this tool is quite substantial but it should last forever. Great tool for the job.

This is a good quality pitman arm puller. It held up with to a tremendous amount to pressure. However I ended up cutting my pitman arm so I could air hammer a crack in the pitman arm. Then, I was able to pull it off with the puller. Ive used this puller before but they were borrowed and finally bought my own. This pitman arm was incredibly rusted and it or other tools would have been broken if I put an unforgiving amount of pressure on the tool. I trust this tool for its quality and strength.

well I've come to the realization that you need a collection of these types of tools and you need ones that can take abuse and applied torque/leverage. As some of these pitman arms are a "bear" to remove. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection, also likley you might need one or two from the tool truck $$. Anyway this is a well made tool that works.

This works great on the balljoint on the pitman arm but is to small for the pitman arm to pull it off the steering box. You'll need OTC 8150.I ordered the wrong one qnd found out its this issue on a 98 Jeep cherokee / jeep xj

This was bought to remove what appeared to be the original pitman arm on a 1965 Mustang. The centering point can be removed, which is useful if the tool needs to be slightly off center, as it needed to be when removing the pitman arm on the Mustang. The tool worked well, but the pitman arm wasn't that difficult to remove, so I can't say the tool's strength was tested. It also worked well removing tie rod ends and idler arms. The tool appears to be of the highest quality, heavy, thick, and well constructed, so I expect it can endure very difficult jobs. For larger vehicles you may need the larger tool, 8150. The cutout is about 1.5" wide at the front and is about 1.25" deep. The 8150 has a slight bevel in the opening compared to the 8149 which does not, which could make a difference if whatever you are grabbing is close to the opening size. See attached pictures for comparison. The one I received was made in China.

I received my puller today and 10 minutes and one application had my pitman arm off.

This product is strong and well made and very good value when compared to similar products costing four times the price. It was used to dissemble a lower control arm ball joint on a MB W123 series car and fitted perfectly, executing the job with ease, with little effort. Would highly recommend for the purpose of the job to which is is intended.

If this type of puller has been recommended to you, this is probably the one you need. I broke three other 'two jaw style' puller types trying to remove the pitman arm from a Mitsubishi Starion, and this one pulled it off, drama-free, on the first try. Had to loosen the steering box bolts (replacing box anyway) for enough clearance to get the puller squarely installed on the shaft, but after that, it was nearly effortless. It actually took less torque to remove than the ones that broke, and when I started leaning into it with a fairly long 1/2" ratchet, I was expecting either a pretty violent release or the thing shattering. Instead, when it 'gave', I figured it bent or broke like the others. Nope, just did exactly what it was meant to do.It's a bit of a pricey way to remove a pretty obsolete steering component, and I'll add it to the growing number of probably-single-use tools that I own, but I wish I'd just started with this one.

When others failed...this delivered. Tried in vain to remove my pitman arm using other pullers with no luck. Put my tools away and ordered this. Once it arrived (very quickly). Pitman removed in minutes and effortlessly.

Had to pull the pittman arm on a 1995 Jeep YJ...I do not believe it had ever been taken off....I tightened the tool with a 1/2 inch rachet then put a 25 inch breaker bar and the appropriate socket on it. I could not get the pittman arm off....I then placed a 4 foot cheater bar over the breaker bar and went around about 180 degrees TWICE....Still did not budge....hit it with a hammer a few times and went around about another 90 degrees. Tool gave a small pop...I thought I had broken the tool...In fact the tool had not broken ...the pittman arm had come off...A few things...This is probably the most torque I personally have ever put on an automobile part to the point I was a little apprehensive about the outcome...Secondly...I can tell you....this tool works as designed!!!!!!

I bought it for use as a Ball Joint Separator because it is similar to the Mercedes Lower Ball Joint Separator used on W123 and W126 Mercedes Cars.I did not order right away because I wanted to know if it would fit but found that even OTC did not have a good list of the dimensions.I ordered it any way and here are the Dimensions. The Notch where the Pitman Shaft would go is 1-1/4 inch wide. The widest part of the Tool where the Pitman Arm would go is 2-1/4 inch wide. The open area inside of the Tool; the height from the bottom to the top inside is 2-15/16 of an inch. The Tool is larger than the Offical Mercedes Tool but fit in and easily poped off the Ball Joint. It may also work for the intended Pitman Arm Pulling but I did not need to do that and did not try it to see if it fit on the Mercede Pitman Arm.The Tool is Made in China. However, the only Company that makes the Same Tool with the same design and shape is the US Made Snap-on and even the used ones on eBay can be over $100.I bought Mine on Amazon from Tradervar for $19.99+ about $7 shipping. This is and extremely low price compared to the other Sellers I looked at.I also bought the larger OTC 8150 that is the same Design but wider and a little taller. I have not used it for anything so I cannot comment on it.
