Introducing the Panavise 305 Low PROFILE BASE, Lowest profile Base on the market! For working closely to the bench surface, this Base accepts all 300 series Heads. Accepts all 300 series Heads and any 5/8-Inch (15.9mm) diameter shaft. Use with the 304 Low-Profile Head to create a very Low-profile vise. Single control knob and exclusive split-ball locks Head firmly in place. Base features 4.3125-Inch (109.5mm) bolt circle countersunk for three 1/4 (6.3mm) flat-head screws (not included). Height: 2.5 (63.5mm), Weight: 1.3 lbs. (0.6kg).

From the Manufacturer

The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is a work-holding tool base designed for vise applications that require minimal distance from work benches, or other mounting surfaces. The 305 utilizes a "split-ball" feature which allows for head movement through three separate planes (tilt, turn and rotate), controlled by a single-load control knob. The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is compatible with all PanaVise 300 series vise heads and can be mounted using 1/4" (6.3 mm) countersunk screw holes in its bolt circle.

Low-profile base designed for vise applications close to bench surfaces.
Stable Low-profile Holding Power

The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) tall, with a base diameter of 4-5/16" (109.5 mm). The base combines with one of PanaVise's compatible heads (sold separately) to create a work-holding tool suitable for use in a space that requires the attached head to be closer to the work bench. The bolt circle at the bottom of the base contains three pre-drilled holes countersunk for use with 1/4" (6.3 mm) flat head screws (sold separately) to secure the base to a work surface. Alternately, the 1.3 lb. (0.6 kg) weight of the 305 low-profile base, and its lower center of gravity, make it a good choice for lighter work-holding tool applications where mounting of the base is not possible or wanted.

Convenient adjustability across three separate planes
(vise head and mount sold separately).
Compatible with all 300 series heads
(vise head sold separately).
Tilt, Turn and Rotate Functionality

The 305 low-profile base utilizes PanaVise single-knob "split-ball" functionality at the point of contact with installed vise heads. Once a vise head is installed and an item is secured, the split-ball system allows for maneuvering the item along three separate planes, with a single-load control knob locking the head firmly in place. The mobility range of the model 305's split-ball system is a 90-degree tilt to the side, along with either an angled rotation, or a level turn range of 360 degrees. This range of mobility allows a user to rearrange items into any position, and limits the need to adjust the overall position of the vise, or the item within the vise.

Multiple Vise Head Options

The PanaVise 305 low-profile base is suitable for use across a wide range of applications and is designed to be compatible with a range of vise heads. The base works with all PanaVise 300 series vise heads, as well as the PV Jr. model 203 head, or any tool head accessory with a 5/8" diameter shaft.

I bought the whole configuration since you just never know whats next. The Panavise system, with its modular design, offers a highly adaptable solution for securely holding small objects. My experience with a combination of the 305 Low Profile Base, 311 Clamp, 304 Low Profile Head, 303 Standard Head, 312 Tray Base, and 376 Self-Centering Extra Wide Clamp has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its versatility and quality.Core Components:305 Low Profile Base: This base provides surprising stability in a compact form. Its low profile is ideal for close-up work and tight spaces. It's sturdy enough for most light-duty tasks.311 Clamp: The 311 clamp is a reliable workhorse, gripping a wide range of objects securely. Its well-designed jaws offer excellent surface contact, perfect for circuit boards, wires, and small parts.304 Low Profile Head: This head excels in situations requiring a lower profile and increased maneuverability. Compatible with both the 305 base and 311 clamp, it enables diverse configurations.303 Standard Head: The standard head provides a more robust and versatile mounting option. It offers a wider range of motion and compatibility with a broader selection of Panavise accessories.Specialized Components:312 Tray Base: This base incorporates a convenient tray for holding small tools, parts, or solder. It enhances workspace organization and prevents items from rolling away, while also adding stability to the setup.376 Self-Centering Extra Wide Clamp: This clamp is invaluable for larger or irregularly shaped objects. The self-centering mechanism ensures a secure grip, and the extra-wide jaws accommodate items beyond the standard clamp's capacity. It's particularly useful for larger components or small projects.Performance and Versatility:The Panavise system's strength lies in its modularity. Mixing and matching components creates the perfect holding solution for almost any task. I've used my setup for soldering, filing, gluing, painting, and light machining. The diverse heads and clamps offer incredible flexibility. Need to hold a delicate circuit board? The 311 clamp with the low-profile head is ideal. Working on a larger project? The 376 clamp paired with the standard head is the answer. The tray base keeps everything organized.Pros:Unmatched Versatility: The modular system allows for endless configurations.High Quality: Components are well-made and durable.Strong Grip: Clamps hold objects securely.Wide Range of Accessories: Expands the system's capabilities.Compact and Portable: Easy to move and store.Cons: Maybe price if you buy them all indivually but I found I prefer to change configurations at times and I only takes a minute or two.The Panavise system is a worthwhile investment for anyone working with small parts or needing a reliable and adaptable holding solution. While the initial cost might seem high, the versatility and component quality make it a valuable, long-lasting tool. Hobbyists, electronics technicians, jewelers, and DIY enthusiasts will find the Panavise system makes work easier and more efficient. Highly recommended.

This low profile vise is a great addition to my tool collection. Really helps holding odd stuff to free up both hands for detailed work. The infinite adjustment of the angles is really a great thing to have. I really wish I had not waited this long. I have many vises, but for detailed work, this is it.

I now own four Panavise base units, but this is the first low profile I've purchased. It is being used to hold a vintage articulated lamp / magnifying lens on my workbench. I had to use brass shims around the lamp base stud to fill up the receptacle in this base unit. It is bolted to my workbench, and works great with the lamp.

Great product. Solidly built. Pairs well with the weighted base. I use this to hold PCBs when soldering, and it does a great job for that.

I strongly prefer this low profile base over the standard height base for PCB work. This base lets me keep my wrists low to the bench for stability. It is solid and does it's job just fine. Rotating and tilting can feel a little notchy at times, but it locks up tight in any position.

I bought this and the low profile head for use at my jeweler's bench. Even though most vises are adjustable, they are hard to work with on a regular basis for fine detail work because they stick too far up, out, or both. This is a quality, refined, well-built unit that adjusts easily, locks tight, and is capable of holding your work down at a reasonable level. I love all of my PanaVise products and recommend them specifically to jewelers as well as any other detail-workers.

Works great for holding PC boards while soldering. I bought the 315 Circuit Board Holder, and it works great with this base. I attached the base to a piece of 3/4" MDF which stabilized it so that I can work on large boards easily. Simple to adjust and is holding up well.
