BALLAST BYPASS INSTALLATION

Bypassing the ballast will save you both time and money, as ballasts inevitably fail over time and will require replacement. When using the ballast bypass method, we recommend these lights are installed by a qualified electrician.

These bulbs are great! Multiple installation options, ballast or no ballast. So far the bulbs have all worked with no quality issues at all. Also they haven't had a single one burn out yet. Can't say that about normal fluorescent bulbs! Also not to mention they are way less expensive than other brands I have used.

We’ve purchased over 200 of these lights in the past couple of years, and every box has had at least one dud right out of the box. Despite being advertised to last at least five years, most barely make it a year. Extremely disappointing. Save yourself the hassle and go with a reliable brand instead.

Re-lighted my entire basement and outbuilding with these. Work GREAT, and so far very good durability / endurance. Very bright, as expected.

I was surprised when I opened the box as these bulbs are much smaller / narrower than the fluorescent bulbs I was replacing. They install easily and are quite bright it's only the day after I put them in so it will be interesting to see how they last.I have ballast in lighting.

Easy to follow directions, lights look greatTook less than 10 minutes per fixture.

I decided to remove my old ballast and wire the two prong bulb sockets up directly to the power source via my light switch. It took some studying because I have 4 light bulbs in my fixture with the two inner bulbs on one circuit and the the outer two bulbs on another circuit and both the inner and outer circuits have two light switches each with 3-way switches to control from two different locations. So I had to study it for a while and make sure I understood the new wiring method compared to what I had in place. It was my existing wiring that was confusing for me, I did it 30 years ago so I couldn’t remember too much. Turns out it was easier than I thought after drawing it on paper one wire at a time (learned that from a guy on YouTube). I recommend swapping from old ballast powered fluorescent bulbs to these newer LED bulbs. They put out just as much light and you won’t regret it.

Probably the best and most satisfying upgrade to my home shop! I ordered the 5000k units, almost too bright. Easy fix, where I don't need as much light I installed 2 lights in a 4 light fixture. These lights can be used with or without ballasts, I chose to bypass and remove the ballasts. Easy rewire, 20 minutes per fixture.Comes well packaged, and included retrofit warning labels for the fixtures.

They can be used either as ballast bypass bulbs or with the ballast in place. They are bright and throw nearly the same light pattern as the original bulbs. The pic I included shows the led bulb beside the existing flouresent bulb running on the same ballast. You can see I s nicer light and brighter and reflects very similar onto the ceiling. I have had 180deg led bulbs in the past and my complaint was that the ceiling is dark and not lit up. Not so with these 240def bulbs! I've already ordered a second case and I haven't even installed all these ones yet! I think they are brighter when you install them as bypass bulbs based on what I could see. Update! They are still awesome! I am going to replace my other led ones that keep burning out with more of these ones!

We installed these lights in our Bait Shop and now our shop is nice and bright. No more flickering on and off dim neon's and we save in electricity. Extremely satisfied. Worth the money.

These are a nice bright and RELATIVELY easy replacement for regular fluorescent tubes. The bulbs came very well packaged, in molded sponge/foam, which held them tightly and securely.I had hoped that the ballast type in my lights would enable me to simply replace the existing bulbs. In my case it wasn't on the list, so I opted to do a ballast bypass. This really isn't complicated, but I suggest reading up on what to do, and check out a couple of videos on Youtube, which will show you exactly what you need to do ( one of which is fitting these Parmida bulbs ).I am very happy with the ease of use, brightness and energy saving, that these bulbs give. Good product at a good price.

I read most reviews on new (to me) products before i buy. Then i chose this product. I'm 72, have 3 vertebra fused and surgery on both rotator cuffs - have a very hard time raising my arms over my head for more than about 10 minutes and then need a good rest. These Parmida 4ft. 4000K lamps:- Wife didn't want me working on a ladder with the 10 ft. ceiling, but I didn't want to pay an electrician. Good decision to do them myself.- Really are super easy to change. Ten 2 tube fixtures - 20 tubes total. I wired these old fixtures originally through the middle access hole. Took 1 fixture to get the routine right. I didn't even remember how to flex the plastic lens cover to get it off the fixture - literally that's the hardest part.- Disconnect the old ballast, then cut the SHORT wires off, right at the old tombstones, then cut the remaining long wires right at the ballast. You will NOT need any additional wire. Just take of the wire nuts off the old wires to untwist the ballast, let it drop to the floor and then connect the remaining wire and you are done.- i bought 12 new tombstones from Amazon so I wouldn't find I needed them and then have to delay the project. You won't need to change any tombstones. I guess it's more stuff my boys will eventually have to get rid of.Save your money.- Really is only about 10 minutes per fixture - even for an old guy like me.- Power at only one end - awesome. Simple.- These tubes have an LED stripe running full length of the tube. Just turn the tube so the stripe is against the fixture and they're clean & full length light - like the old tubes Not like some where on end of about 4" is dead i love the 4000k. Not cold like the 5,000k & 6,000k cold blue light and not amber like the 2,700k. No hum at all. No flicker. I live in Saskatchewan and several of the old ballasts started to fail, along with the old t8's from the cold start. These take 1 second to full on flight. Brighter than the old WW & CW tubes i had before. Why the H--- did i put this off? These tubes were about $7 each from Amazon - same price as using old fluorescent types and about 1/2 the price of led replacements at your local big box store.

LED lighting is kind of a hobby of mine. I have updated the lighting in several industrial buildings at relatively low cost with excellent results. Not all of the replacements have been straight up fluorescent tube so I have used several different types of bulbs/fixtures depending on what was previously installed. One building had 400w mercury vapor lights and another had E27 sockets. There are countless options out there. If you already have fluorescent fixtures I don’t think there’s a cheaper or easier LED replacement than these. This purchase was for use at home in my kitchen, closets, and garage and so far I couldn’t be happier. I was looking for something with a frosted lens as I wasn’t totally happy with some Hyperikon fluorescent LED replacements that were clear. The Hyperikons were more heavy duty and bigger with aluminum frames. They may also be a touch brighter but with the light directed down it made the ceiling and upper walls dark giving an overall feel of the room being dark even though more light was actually reaching horizontal surfaces. These lights give a much softer less directional light that feels more like a fluorescent tube. They are very lightweight and don’t seem as sturdy but they give no indication that they are delicate. The 4000K light is nice, Neither too yellow nor too blue. It feels like incandescent lighting. In my kitchen fixtures I replaced two 40w fluorescent tubes with one of these. In my photo the 3rd light from the left is still two fluorescents. The light output from one of these LEDs measures about 300 LUX while the two 40w fluorescents are about 250 Lux. In the garage 4 LED tubes are more than double the measured light as 4 aging 40w fluorescentsI’m about 50/50 with the lights working on the ballasts and that’s not too bad. Bypassing the ballasts couldn’t be any easier though and should probably be the standard. I haven’t tried the single end connection yet but for the double ended you just take all the wires coming from the tombstones at one end and attach them to neutral and you take all the wires on the other end and attach to the hot. A couple wire nuts and you’re in business.Time will tell if the drivers are going to be long lived but so far so good. I have installed 15 of the 20 bulbs I purchased and every on of them has been good. If they start pooping out I’ll try to come back and update but so far five stars.
