Save shavings in the jar and add water to use as paint.

IT'S Time to put away your childhood and hobbyist tools.Though a basic sharpener;better made sharpeners for art pencils; and even utility knives for precise, tiny points to handle detailed work [once you complete that learning curve -- ] ALL have their places in your toolbox, different types of art pencilsneed sharpeners, as well.Specific tools are made for specific jobs; and thus specificsurfaces, materials, tools, techniques for different kinds or genres of artwork. Sharpeners for the materials utilized in those types of genre specific art pencils are not only available but also extremely useful.THIS tool is for pastel 🖍, ✏️,and most specifically chalk pastel used as shavings to lay down tone and color in the work. This is what is generally meant by pastel painting. And THIS tool is so good for that genre and product that it has totally upped my game.

I like how I can make "pastel paint" to brush on the canvas or paper. This technique helps a great deal when blending. I was able to mix colors to help with depth. I didn't like the cost. It just seems a little more than it should be and stopped me from buying more than one at the time. It would be great to have 4/5 of these when working. Overall like it alot.

I use this gadget for creating pastel powder from soft pastels or chalk pastels. Love using it on backgrounds or mixing the powder with alcohol for an under panting. The powder can also be used in mixed media projects. It's more convenient than digging out my panpastels and trying to match up a color. The Product is also well made and durable plus they sell extra cups for storage purposes.

This little wonder as I call it is great for oil pastel art as it was intended but, it's also great for mixing colors when pastels have been ground down. The easy-to-use grater and catcher works well and clean up is a breeze with the added wire brush. Even the lid provides for protection from the accidental tumbles when you're least expecting it. I would suggest any artist or for that matter, hobbyist purchase one of these, as I'm sure this can be used for a multitude of other work where powdering is necessary.

I have a good number of soft chalk pastels and considered buying a wood file or zester to use when I needed more pastel dust for my clay pieces. Usually, I use the pastels for art but also for coloring liquid clay for frostings, sauces and more. I was using a razor blade but that can cause larger than desired chunks of pastel to break loose and is time-consuming. Even the wood file or zester would have the issue of containing the created dust. This system is honestly perfect. The initial container keeps all my portions of dust, it's not too painful to use, it's certainly quicker than my previous methods. The created dust is uniform and easy to blend or use on paper. Much easier than the improvised mortar/pestle method that I'd used before which often left some of the pastel powder compacted together, producing lumpy frosting or sauces.Overall, I like it! I just wish it had come with more than one storage jar.

Le tamis du gobelet pour tailler les pastels n'est pas assez abrasif pour affiner les pastels. Quand à la brosse elle est par contre trop "rustique". Des fils métal s'échappent d'un peu partout et peuvent être agressifs pour les utilisateurs
