ITEM: Paw Inspired Chinchilla CuddlerCOMMENTS: I purchased this with the intent of giving it to my two degus.PROS:- The cuddles is very soft and cushy - seems human child quality.- My degus do like it and often jump or snuggle on it.NEUTRALS:- Despite the stitching being well done, it doesn’t seem to be reinforced and made with standard fabric over fluff - potentially easy to tear into. I’m keeping an eye on them to make sure it doesn’t become a hazard.CONS:- Note that cuddlers will have to be frequently washed/replaced due to urine.WOULD I PURCHASE? (Any prices noted are as of the time of writing): Probably not. While I like it and my degus do as well, $19.99 is pricy for a toy that has to be frequently washed/replaced and [potentially] easily destroyed; I much rather give them more nesting materials and hardier enrichment.My rating system is: 5 = no/minimal complaints, very pleased 4 = minor complaints, overall satisfied, but could be better 3 = notable complaints, overall average to ‘meh’ 2 = significant complaints, unhappy and will not keep/use 1 = entirely complaints, misleading descriptions, straight to the trash product.

This little cuddle plushie is super cute! While I think it is adorable unfortunately it has some issues.I have owned a pair of chinchilla brothers for about 15 years and recently one has been exuding extreme and aggressive dominance over his brother so I have had to separate them. They have always cuddled when sleeping so now not having each other I could tell they were needing to have something to cuddle. Unfortunately, though my chins have yet to cuddle with it despite having tried it with both of them for quit a bit of time.I think the issue is the size, shape, and fullness. This cuddle toy is a bit larger than chins are so it seems they can’t get their bodies around the toy. The shape is a bit awkward also. It has a very wide front/head so it doesn’t replicate the shape of another chin. Then there is also the issue of the firmness or lack there of as it runs on the soft side. It’s not too soft to the point of collapsing but it is much softer and not quite supportive as another chin would be.Another issue. which is my biggest concern, is the stitching of the eyes. Chins love to chew and almost immediately they noticed the threading of the eyes. In no time they were chewing on the threading and had it unraveled. Even with my supervision it was unravelled super quick so I couldn’t imagine the danger if a chinchilla is left unsupervised. I think it was very misleading when it was stated that there is no exposed stitching as stitching that can be seen and felt is very much exposed to a chinchilla and they will find it. It would have been best to forgo the eyes altogether rather than have the stitching or to have implement the eyes as a printed design directly into the fabric.I will say this cuddle toy is very easy to clean with being able to simply toss it into the washing machine. The material washed up well giving a clean like new appearance and it smelled really good too. I did not find any of the “chinchilla fragrance” remaining. I am not able to attest to how the eye stitching holds up with washing since my chins and I had already removed the stitching, but the rest of the stitching on the cuddle toy held up magnificently as there was no one loose stitch after washing.The price point for me was a bit on the luxury side. I would have preferred it to be more affordable given the overall quality, size, and material. I personally am on other fence about recommending this. Some chinchillas may like this cuddle toy but I would only recommend it if you removed the eye stitching prior to use. That still leaves the issue of the price point which in that department I think the reasonable affordability is just not there.

I ordered this for my degu, who are a little smaller than a chinchilla, but related to them and sleep like them, all piled up on top of each other.I put it in the cage and the first couple of days they were mean to it, knocking it over and turning it upside down. I up-righted it every time I came over, and now they don't turn it over, but they don't really sleep with it like I thought they might. I don't think that's anything to do with the stuffy itself, but just that they have each other, so why bother with the stuffy. If one passes, or has to be separated for some reason, the other may be lonely enough to use it. I would probably take it to the vet with us if we ever have another degu emergency, because they do get stressed when they're alone. I might actually recommend this item to the vet clinic!

I have been needing a new cuddle buddy for my second chinchilla. I previously got a similar product for my first chinchilla (as pictured), but these are hard to find and often expensive. I was glad that I came across this product, which is relatively inexpensive and still advertised good quality material (and even cuter with the eye design). It is also small and goes well with my second chinchilla’s size.Unfortunately, design over functionality and safety is the main issue with this product. My chinchilla took a bit to warm up to it, but once he started interacting with it, he tore through the left eye stitching and part of the ears. While he now loves to snuggle with the faux friend or “let off some steam” when needed, I am concerned about the potential loose threads and if any stuffing were to come out. Even more so, the product tag stated that it “cannot be chewed on”, raising more questions about the material safety.Overall, while this product looks okay, there are design issues that make it potentially unsafe for chinchillas. For now, I will only permit the toy to be used under supervision to avoid problems.

This so adorable. It is well made and extremely soft. The material used is soft and can be easily cleaned. Great price too.
