I originally bought the Pearl Export EXX 5 piece kit. The configuration I bought came with a 16” floor tom. My son joined the school’s jazz band so I thought a 14” floor tom would be better suited for jazz then the boomy 16”. As I mentioned it arrived flawless and matched my existing kit perfectly and sounds just as good as the rest of my kit. The reason I mentioned that it matches perfectly is that these drums are rapped with metal sheeting and are not laquer painted. So for every new lot there’s a chance that even though it’s the same color, it may not match perfectly. With that being said,I honestly don’t know Pearls process for their rapped drums so if I’m wrong I’m sorry. The takeaway from this review is no matter how they finish their drums, they look great and match exactly.
