These are metal, not cheap plastic. They have a nice weight to them so they feel good in hand. Easy push button. Very bright light. Excellent for checking pupil reaction. The colors are pretty too!

These are soooo bright but because of that pupil reaction is pretty fast (my coworker loved them so much I gave her one). The brightness is more uncomfortable than other dimmer penlights though but they are quite pretty and have a decent weight to them. You can also change the batteries which is much more environmentally friendly than the disposable pen lights a lot of companies use.
