I wonder why Petersen changed the display to not show the mode/sweetener selected? I have purchased two in the past couple of months thinking the first had a faulty display. I like my older one that showed the mode/sweetener I had selected immediately when the device was turned on. Both of the recent purchases show the sweetener only during the setting mode, not after the device is turned off then turned back on.I wonder if I have two rejects purchased months apart, the second was purchased from a vendor other than Amazon. Bummed. The one I had for 4 years would always display the tuner selection for instance GTR or ACU, it’s not there on the new ones unless I go into a mode selection!

This is a unique tuner. I actually own a vacuum tube Peterson Strobocon. This unit takes a CR2302 lithium nonrechargable battery. However if you look closely, the battery compartment is shown to be a flat circle, that is opened by a coin or similar sized disk.I wanted that feature specifically, because it is easy to open and close, there are no small parts to lose, and you don't need a TINY screwdriver to change the battery. My Peterson tuner has the rectangular battery compartment, secured by a tiny screw. The screw is small, but it can be carefully loosened with the tip of my pocketknife. It is also adequately retained by a plastic washer, so that is good.I would have preferred the circular coin driven battery compartment. The unit also has a tiny USB port on the bottom. That is a feature used on rechargable units, and presumably has no function on this unit. Hopefully if someone did connect USB to this port, it would not damage the unit. So, they might have discontinued the coin style battery compartment. Or the distributor may have not had stock of that specific item and done a substitution. (Mine was ordered on Dec 9 and recieved on Jan 24.) I have no problem with the delay. This sort of thing happens with small "stocking stuffers" at this time of year. They may also have designed the case for charging, but not used that feature in all units.I would have prefered getting the circular coin style battery compartment, but this unit is seviceable, and will do fine. It is sensitive. I clipped it on a piece of cardboard and sang a few notes, it picked them up just fine. I am sure it will work on my guitar and ukulele. One star off for not shipping the advertised unit.

It took a bit of time to get acclimated to how it works but this is a great tuner. I use the "sweetened" tuning for my acoustic guitar and, with this tuner, I am able to tune my instrument better than any other tuner I've owned in the past. I bought the case and carry it in my gig bag so that I always have it. I may get a 2nd as I generally use 2 guitars at gigs but overall I'm super pleased. If you want great, accurate tuning, get this tuner.

I've been using a Peterson strobe tuner for years, though it didn't belong to me. It was finally time to buy my own, so I picked up this tiny guy.The display is super easy to read (doesn't exhibit ghosting like the old Petersons) and the battery is still the first one I put in it, and I leave it on through entire practices and gigs without battery draining noticeably. As a Peterson, accuracy is naturally perfect.Amazing that they fit all of this into this diminutive package. Highly recommend!
