Pill Cutter, Pill Crusher, Pill Cutter 1/4 Splitter for Small and Tiny Pills - Reviewed March 2025.This pill cutter and crusher has been a handy tool in managing my medications. I love the thoughtful design, especially the safety feature where the blades only come down when the lid is closed. This makes me feel a lot more comfortable using it. The ability to position the pill in a ring before closing the lid and pressing the big button is a neat feature, and it worked quite well on both small allergy pills and larger over-the-counter pain meds.However, I didn't always get precise cuts—which might be down to my own lack of skill in aligning the pills perfectly. So, if precision is key for your needs, you might consider another option. I also discovered that finding and opening the pill storage could be a bit tricky. It requires holding the ring and giving the bottom a twist to the left until it clicks. You’ll even need a flat tool to pry open the storage lid, which, on the bright side, is another reassuring safety feature.The pill crusher section won't turn your pills into a perfect powder, but it does break them down enough to mix and dissolve, especially if you cut larger pills beforehand. Overall, it’s been a convenient and secure product to have, albeit with a couple of minor niggles.

I have a couple kittens who need to take lysine for URI issues, and cat lysine is rather pricey when one could just use identical human-grade lysine. And I happened to have a stash of tablets from pandemic times. But a 4lb kitten doesn’t need nearly the dose I do.The cutting function is maybe the best I’ve seen in a pill cutter. It has built-in braces to hold the odd-shaped tablets in place during cutting. It basically managed to cut a very thick and awkward shaped lysine tablet evenly enough that I could dose my 2 little kittens accurately with it.The grinder is less effective, at least for these tablets. It’s built into the bottom of the device and is just a smooth, but semi-pointed upper portion in a small chamber. The coated lysine tablets practically refused to break down further using this. But I could see an uncoated tablet working better with the grinder. I would suggest adding a sandpaper-type or otherwise rough finish to the grinder to make it a little more effective. At least one of my kittens is willing to take it in uncrushed form as long as I put it in a pill pocket treat, so I only have to think about crushing for the other one who won’t take pills.The grinder is hollow, so if you take the device apart in half, there’s a little chamber inside the grinder thing that you can store pills in. That has actually been convenient for the shards of lysine pill that I would not be able to keep track of otherwise.Overall this device is a great cutter, probably a mediocre grinder/crusher.

The pill crusher and cutter did its job effectively. The product is kind of like an egg shape with two halves. The top part has a pill holder (to hold the pills as you are cutting them), and the bottom actually has the crusher. Both parts are pretty easy to use. The top part is where you put the pill in the pill holder (so the pill doesn’t move as you cut it), close the lid, and push the button on the top of the cutter, and 4 blades come down in a “cross” or lowercase “t” and cut the pill (that is being held inside of the closed lid) into quarters. If you want halves, you have to move the adjustable pill holder out a little and use one of the 4 blades to cut the pill into halves. This is one thing that I didn’t like. I wish there was a way that you could select halves or quarters (maybe flip a little switch), and it would hold two of the blades from going down (not sure if that is possible). I think that would be a little better than all 4 blades coming down each time you press the button, which could potentially make the pills come out in quarters as well.The pill crusher is also pretty easy to use as well and is found on the bottom. Overall, this is a lot easier than trying to do the alternative of using a knife and cutting pills into quarters or halves (which is a pain and can be messy).

I received this product that had already been used and returned to Amazon and it still had pill dust on it so I couldn’t keep it due to cross contamination concerns. However, I was able to test it on a medication I no longer use and the product appears to work nicely on quartering a pill.

After living up the pills correctly, the cutter works well. Unfortunately there seems to be a manufacturing defect because the section for the pill storage is solid plastic that was not punched out.
