This product works amazingly well, does exactly what I had hoped it would. I haven't had to deal with rubbing brakes since purchasing this product.

I used this to spread the caliper pistons on my Surron brakes which are basically Shimano 4 piston brakes. This tool makes spreading your caliper pistons super easy and works on 4 piston calipers. I used to spread pistons with a caliper block and hammer but this is a much better solution. It fits in between the pistons and then you can screw it down to spread them apart. It is way easier than the method I was using previously.I would recommend this tool if you work on lots of bike brakes. Its probably not necessary for the casual bike mechanic since there are other ways to spread the pistons without a specialized tool but if you frequently work on bike brakes, this thing is a life saver. Or if you just want to make spreading pistons easier, this is a good way to do it.Overall, this is a super useful tool and I would recommend it to anyone who frequently works on bike brakes. It worked great on my 4 piston shimano Surron brakes and I see no reason why it wouldn't also work well on a variety of other bike brakes. 10/10

The MIEBA piston press works as advertised. It applies a balanced force to all pistons at the same time using parallel surfaces, unlike using a screwdriver or paddle-type tool. The wedge has two parallel surfaces with a surface area of about 1"×1¼" that expands from a thickness of 0.300" to 0.500". The ⅞" of #16 threading lengthens the aluminum block from 4½" to 6⅜".I had an old caliper with a seized piston. This tool helped to free the piston where other tools would have damaged the caliper body. While it's a nifty design, I wonder if this degree of precision necessary in the general case, or whether I'll still grab a screwdriver out of convenience.

So watching the video on this item helps with learning how to use it. First, it's requires the pin/bolt that holds the brake pads in the calipers. That bolt guides the tool as it separates the pads. More importantly, the tool needs enough space between the pistons to get the tool in between them. If you happen to squeeze the brake levers without a block or if the pads were worn down to the metal, then the tool may not fit and you would need something else to spread the pistons out enough to fit the tool in. Once the tool is in and the pin/bolt is installed, the tool works well. This is a generic brand of a tool that I believe SRAM licensed. The generic is significantly less expensive. It is made of aluminum alloy though so feels sturdy and using the tool doesn't really require a lot of stress on the tool so I anticipate it will last just as long.

Had the inevitable accident of grabbing break lever while reinserting tire and thus squeezing the pistons. Not sure if this would slide in if the pistons were fully compressed but i was able to retract ever so slightly before product arrived, it was enough for this tool to insert. Didn't want to risk testing full compression fitting, but it may fit regardless if needed.Anyway the only negative i have with this tool is that i didn't have it on hand before i needed it. If you have disk brakes, do yourself a favor and buy this in advanced.

I have another variety of piston press tool, and it works with one hand. It's a bit more "fiddly" to get the pistons to properly depress with it, however. Enter this tool: it takes two hands to get it inserted and use it properly--so you'll want your bike in a secure bench stand--but it works the first time, perfectly. "One and done" as they say. So even though it may be a little more complicated to use than the "brand name" piston tool, but in my experience, it's faster in getting the job done.
