Pizza Stone Cleaning and Storage
Scraper to Remove Food Residue
- Scrape off any excess food with a spatula before cleaning. (Easy Clean up only!)
- Due to high baking temperatures, the stone will retain a small amount of black spots from baked-on food, but this will not affect the use of the stone.
Clean & Warning
- After the stone has cooled, rinse it with water or a damp towel.
- Never use soap or detergent on a stone, or it will cause odor when heated.
- Don't soak the stone in water for a long time.
- Not dishwasher safe.

Baking bread in an Anova oven does not work without some sort of oven stone. The 1800-watt burner limitation means the added bread cools the oven from 450 to about 250. Not good. So, I ordered this instead of their $125 steel oven 'stone'. Preheated oven to its maximum (482), and a 3-cup of flour dough focaccia barely cooled the oven at all - I think the low temp was about 460.

It’s a challenge to figure out where I’m going to store it. I purchased for frozen pizza. So I was surprised by how big and how heavy it is. It does take some time to heat it up. So I need to allow accordingly. It was ok but not as I hoped it would be. Again, this was a name brand frozen pizza so not sure if it was the pizza or if it was worth the added time but I’m on a tight schedule.

This stone is thick and requires longer preheating. I wouldn’t recommend this for frozen pizza. Due to the prolonged preheating, it is not advisable to place a frozen pizza on it as it could crack the stone. I use this with home made dough which gets acclimated to room temperature prior to putting it in the oven. If you decide to use this with frozen pizza, do not preheat it. The change in temperature could make it crack.
