I saw on some reviews that it wasn't suitable for shipping by air. It probably would not be quite good enough for that. But for my use to store pistol in it is good. Plenty stout enough to store in vehicle or gun safe. Very good for the price that I paid. Shipped very fast. Thank you.

When my daughter and I go to the range, we take 5 pistols so I thought about whether to buy a big 5 pistol case ($$$), 5 gun rugs ($), 5 rectangular pistol cases ($$) or 5 of the Plano 142300s ($). Obviously by this review I went with the latter. All of our range guns are large pistols and I was concerned after reading many of the other reviews that these cases tend to run small. I took a chance and went with the large cases. From the reviews I saw how other guns with lights fit in the case so my biggest concern was my Hudson H9. When the cases arrived, the H9 was the first gun I tried out... and it fits. As can be seen by the pic, my G17, Colt Gov't Models and Browning HP also fit.OK, yes the cases are somewhat flimsy but I figure they may protect the guns as well or better than soft gun rugs. 5 of these cases cost less than a large 5 pistol case (>$100) so for the money, these should serve their purpose just fine. I may apply some weatherstripping around the inside perimeter of each case to a) protect the sights from contacting the inside of the case and b) hold the foam inserts in place.

Di buona qualità ,le chiusure sono robuste . L'interno è imbottito, ideale per pistola di medio grandi dimensioni , la mia 1911 ci entra ma al limite quindi fate attenzione.

GUN INTENDED TO FIT: SPRINGFIELD XD TACTICAL .45ACP 5" BARREL(I put the handgun model at the top, as the only reason I'm writing this review is to help others determine if this will fit their gun... I found similar comparisons helpful when I was shopping for this myself)There isn't really much to say in a review. This case is how I expected it. Sturdy(ish)-enough to "keep honest people out"-and the cable is nice. I bought this at the same time as a "GunVault NV200 NanoVault" (that's how it's listed on Amazon) which was much more expensive. What I was trying to do is get a case that's as compact as possible to transport my Springfield XD Tactical .45ACP Pistol (this is the model with the 5" barrel and extended slide... specifically called the "tactical" model which is about an inch longer in the slide than the standard full-size .45ACP Springfield XD). I bought both this and the GunVault case because I wanted something that worked as well as possible while still meeting California's requirements for locked transport of handguns before I went on a trip that was coming up, and I figured that by buying both I would be hedging my bets and get a better chance of ending up with a case that would work for the trip. Both cases hold the XD. The Plano case holds it BETTER, however. I say better because of the thickness. I have trouble closing the GunVault NV200 without applying a lot of excess pressure when I'm putting the XD in it. The Plano closes without effort, and is actually SMALLER than the GunVault. The GunVault is WAY more protective of course, but I was only getting this to meet minimum legal compliance for handgun transportation in CA. So I took the Plano on the trip, but I opted to keep the GunVault because the added "smash and grab" protection offered by the cable on the GunVault is a nice feature, and as such I've opted to keep the GunVault in my truck in case I ever find a need to leave a pistol or other valuables in there for an extended period.

This case appears to be well designed and constructed, with two substantial latches, a decent full-length hinge and a sturdy shell. However, the internal padding listed as "high-density foam" is very thin and light, and not what I would consider high-density at all. Plus, it's loose in the case and falls out when you open it, and does not wrap around the pistol at all, leaving it relatively unprotected and free to rattle around inside the case. For the price, I'm not going to bother returning it, but it was not up to the standards I expected. Too bad. A few extra cents invested in better quality padding and this would have been a winner.

I was looking for the smallest case I could find for my full-sized 1911 pistol. (Nighthawk Predator). The purpose was to be able to transport a cased pistol, ammo in a seperate bag, and my belt rig - all in my motorcycles tank bag. (I am a competitive shooter, who drives to matches and practice a lot). This pistol case fit the bill perfectly.Upon receipt of the case, like the other reviewers mentioned, the foam lining was kind of thin. (The pistol slid around in the case when moved). But in my opinion, that was OK, as I could easily wrap the pistol in a few extra layers of a cloth to "thicken" it. And even if it did slide around, no biggie, it was a plastic case. It would not get scratched. One of the things I was worried about was the fit. I did not know which size to purchase for a full-sized 1911 pistol. I am glad I went with the LARGE, as it was the perfect size for a full-grown 1911. A medium would have been too small.Overall, it was a good investment. It will only be used to transport the pistol from my house to the range - and it fits the bill for a lockable case the CA law requires. The reason I did not give it a 5-star rating was because of the thin foam lining, and the fact that it was not a heavy-duty plastic case with beefy hinges. But for the money (a little over $5.00), I would buy and recommend it to others in a heart-beat. (But not for airline travel)!!I am a happy camper.I will try to add a picture if Amazon.com allows. If not, copy and paste the following link to see my case.[...]Hope this helped someone out.In Christ: Raymond
