Pretty good but the spool stem is too small. Big spools for on a dowel of art least 1 inch, why the little 1/4" too short stem?

I need this because I purchased a short wide spool of thread that won't fit in the spool holder on my sewing machine. This will open the door for me to use the larger spools if this works the way it should.
