Polycarbonates are a group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structures. Polycarbonates used in engineering are strong, tough materials, and some grades are optically transparent. They are easily worked, molded, and thermoformed.
Strength/Durability
Polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and is virtually indestructible. Because of its impact resistance, polycarbonate is a favorable choice for protection from extreme weather, flying debris, or vandalism.
Light Transmission
Light transmission is the technical term for transparency to light. Acrylic has a 80 - 90 percent light transmittance rate.
Maintenance
Rinse immediately with clean, cold water. Do not apply cleaners in direct sunlight. Never use sharp objects, wipers (squeegees) or razors on polycarbonate. Do not clean with gasoline.

I thought this was super strong polycarbonate thick plastic. It sure looked and felt like it when I got it. I thought it would be able to withstand tons of pressure and force.I had put this in a box with some medicine balls that range from 5 to 12 lbs and have a soft somewhat flexible outer leather shell. When driving with the items in a box in the car the simple pressure and impact from the balls rolling around a few inches and on top of the tube caused it to crack on one end. I'm going to have to take a saw and cut off 3" of the cracked side and hopefully it will be still be usable after.Disappointed about that.Still good product and I think would meet most peoples needs just use care.
