Works fantastic. Fairly easy install. Following the wire harness is pretty tough.

I give 5 out of 5 stars to this product, it does its job, easy to install, the most difficult thing is to carry the cable forward, but once you figure out how to do it, it is easy

This might be a challenging install if you've never installed electrical in a vehicle but it was pretty easy. I planned my route, used an existing grommet to get it into my truck, and hooked it up to the required wires. I had to remove the back seats to properly hide the wires but they are pretty easy to remove and reinstall. It's a bit loud and makes a distinctive locking sound in the tailgate, but it works great!

The design of the Pop & Lock power tailgate locking mechanism for the 2nd generation Ridgeline is clever and is supposed to just drop right in without modification. This, however, was not the case with my 2019 Ridgeline. I followed the enclosed instructions carefully and watched a detailed installation video of another 2019 but found a major 3/16" material interference between the Pop & Lock mechanism and the Honda factory manual tailgate latching mechanism. Although there is a definite slot or cutout in the Pop & Lock bracket to accommodate a locating tab on the factory latching assembly, either the tab is too long and/or the cut out is not deep enough to allow a flush fit of the Pop & Lock bracket over the factory latching assembly.Since I did not want to weaken the Pop & Lock bracket by deepening its cut out a full 3/16", I removed the factory latch and shortened the locating tab by 1/8" and also used a square file to deepen the cutout in the bracket by 1/16". That allowed the shortened tab and deepened cutout to bolt together without material interference. This problem extended the installation time by at least one hour. Also, the long narrow bracket that holds the electrical actuator and linkage did not seat correctly on the factory latch bracket because the locator tabs on the Pop & Lock bracket were not spaced correctly to drop down around the shape of the factory bracket. I wondered if I had received an incorrect assembly from Pop & Lock but the part number on the box was exactly what was specified for the Ridgeline. After the mechanical parts were installed, I found the instructions for the electrical connections to be of little help. I relied more on the comments and photos of another product reviewer on Youtube. Getting the power wire fished up over the driver's rear inner wheelwell was fairly straightforward but it took a lot of searching and patience to find the rubber plug in the cabin floor underneath the driver's side rear seat. Routing the wire up and into the cabin interior through that plug allowed the wire to run along the inner rocker panel up to the driver's kick panel and out to the fuse panel. Attaching the wires with the clips was awkward due to the limited work space and location of the fuse panel. After everything was connected and tested, I put the truck back together and have enjoyed using the new tailgate lock since. I will be installing a hard locking tonneau cover tomorrow so having a tailgate lock was imperative for having a secure bed. Not sure why Honda waited until their 2020 model to solve this problem with a power locking tailgate. For 2019 and all earlier years of the Ridgeline, the Pop & Lock product is a good solution.

Went in fairly easy if you're mechanically inclined. Went through the lower unibody side instead of going through the engine bay and firewall. Took way less time and had plenty of extra wire. Integrated perfectly with the OEM locks. Wiuld suggest a small piece of foam under the piston to avoid vibration.

Mechanical aspect of installation is easy, electric wiring a little more difficult.

*Edit 10/19/2018* - This is a long post, if you want this cliff notes version, skip to the bottom where it says "moral of the story".So everything on my previous review still applies, so please read that as well. Around the end of last month I started having issues (about three weeks ago now). I went to unlock my tailgate with my key fob to retrieve some items and it did not unlock. I could not hear the very loud actuator / mechanism, so I knew something was not right. The fob was able to lock / unlock the doors, so I knew that was not the problem. I tried it several dozen more times. Thankfully it randomly unlocked after changing nothing. I got my items out of the trunk and closed it.The next day I tried it again with mixed results. It worked pretty consistently for the beginning part of the day, so I threw some items back in the trunk and closed it. Later that afternoon it stopped working for good. I tried several more times at different times / temperatures to see if that was a factor, but I could not find any condition that allowed for it to work. Finally I broke down and called the company that installed it (a local Pop & Lock AUTHORIZED dealer and installer). I unfortunately was not able to get an appointment with them for a week from that point. In the meantime, I contacted Pop & Lock customer support and spoke with Amber. Amber was nice enough. I told her the symptoms I was having. She deduced that it was likely an actuator failure. This made sense enough to me. She agreed to send me a new actuator out. I called the installer back to inform them of the part coming in. Once I told them this, they informed me that it would be a $150 fee to install it since it was a manufacturer defect, not an installation error. I checked back with Amber and she told me there wasn't really much she could do for me as far as that went.Despite my reluctance, I decided I would just do the repair myself if it would be as simple as switching out the actuator. How wrong I was. This was rather difficult because the tailgate was locked closed. Thankfully I have a tonneau cover that opens from the outside. After removing the top trim and the torx screws, I couldn't remove the cover, because the latches actually go through the tailgate cover. I had to pry the cover back and use a hanger to fish into and catch the tab to unlock the tailgate. It was a lot of trial and error, but it finally worked.Once the cover was finally open, the real fun began. I immediately switched out the actuators and realized that was not working either. I figured it was very unlikely that both had failed. I traced the cables back under the body and found where they went into the cab to splice into the electrical. It was in the B pillar molding. Everything looked tight and secure, I had no idea what was going on. Frustrated and out of ideas. I threw everything into the backseat, closed the door, and locked the car.... then it finally worked. No idea what caused it start working, but it has been activating the actuator just fine since.I updated Amber to let her know what was going on. Much to my ire though, once I tried to lock / unlock it again, I realized the "lock" action was not moving the lock catch over far enough to actually lock the tailgate. I tried and tried, but nothing seemed to work there. I took pictures and and a video and sent them back to Amber. Amber told me that it looked like several items were failing and agreed to send out a few replacement parts. That was the last I heard from her. After several more attempts, I couldn't reach her Amber any longer and gave up on that end. During this whole "adventure", I realized that Pop & Lock released an additional manual lock for the Ridgeline. I thought this was perfect to be able to use as a fail-safe if this issue were to arise again. The standalone lock is the PL6200, the add on is the PL6250 (which most suppliers don't carry, but needs to be used if you have a pre-release version of the PL8600), and the combo is the PL8675. Amber told me I would only need the PL6200 since she was sending the additional part needed, but since she didn't I had to purchase the PL6250 online from Car ID.Today, I finally got the replacement part in and installed it. So far, it seems to be working just fine, but instructions didn't do much to help that. It seems as though my issues have been finally resolved after not being able to use my bed for almost a month. Customer support didn't really do anything in this regard, because all they did was send out an actuator to replace the working one I had. The other parts never came in.Moral of the story: DO NOT BUY THIS! I love the idea, but the execution is horrible. If you must, please do yourself a favor and buy the combo electric / manual lock (PL8675) or just the manual lock (PL 6200). Further, whatever you do, DO NOT buy any of these products from Amazon. The only thing worse than the reliability of this product, is their customer support. Buy directly from an authorized dealer / installer. That way if you pay the cash for installation (like I did), they assume the responsibility for both.If you have run across this post because you've had a similar failure, go ahead an send me a message. I will try to help you out. Guarantee that will get you further than customer support will. Good luck.*The item does what it is intended for. Since the cable needs to go through the firewall and splice into the fuse box, I decided to just hire a local shop that do these installs a lot. For my Ridgeline specifically, I ran into an issue right after it was installed. I went to open my tailgate sideways, thinking it was unlocked (it was not). I pulled up on the handle and heard a pop, but the tailgate did not open. I then unlocked the tailgate and tried again, but then there was just a lot of slop in the handle and it was doing nothing. Thankfully I was able to unlock and open the tailgate straight down.I figured something broke inside, so I opened it all up (which is kinda a pain) and found that the actuator arm had poped off a plastic keeper. I was able to get the arm back on the keeper and confirm it fixed the issue I was having. I haven't had the issue since, but it is something to just keep in mind when opening the tailgate (I always double check it is unlocked and even then pull lightly first to make sure there is no resistance). In the end, I am glad that it failed in a LOCKED position rather than an unlocked position; however, it would be nice if a normal opening force did not cause this failure to begin with. I haven't had any other issue and I like that the tailgate locks and unlocks with the key fob.

Installed on a 2018 Honda Ridgeline. Works perfectly and easy to install. Recommend looking at the installation videos on youtube and there are a some excellent photos on the Honda Ridgeline forum. The included instructions were not very helpful, but the Honda forum really made it easy to understand how to install.

I just had this sucessfully installed on my 2018 Ridgeline and it works very well. I have been looking at Ridgelines for a few years and decided to finally purchase one new 2 weeks ago. My only concern was no locking tailgate. Not sure why Honda could not figure that issue out in 11 years for the Ridgeline, but it is my ONLY complaint. I installed a cover and ordered this lock. I read all of the install issues and did not want to fish the cable through the truck myself so I negotiated the lock install in with the Honda Dealer. They decided to outsource to a Line-X who installed it. I paid nothing for the install but they told me the going rate was $86 an hour and it took them less than 2 hours I believe. It works great! If you can negotiate the install in before buying or pay for the install if you don’t like getting frustrated with install. It works very nice with my auto locks on my RTL-T so when I stick my hand in the handle it opens the doors and also now the tailgate (or hit unlock button on key fob). You do hear it engage and it is louder than the inside locks but it is not that loud I don’t think. Hopefully this lasts for years. So far it works very well...
