The size is perfect unless you need to reach. I love the slits on the bottom sides making it far easier to get into my pant pockets for keys, etc. The only issue is the shoulder area. It is akin to the logic of women's pants not having reasonably useful pockets. It is slim and looks good but not practical. Any chef that works needs the puffy shoulders so they can move and reach. This jacket is restrictive, but not undoable, in that way. I will point out that your pen/pencil/thermometer will poke your arm a bit and is annoying. So, get a size up or....
