Portasol products are made in Ireland and we manufacture all our own plastic and metal components in our plant in Co. Carlow. Quality has always been the cornerstone of our technology and what gives Portasol the advantage is the added reliability and durability of our tools. Products are tested for 2 weeks before they leave our factory to ensure reliable ignition and adjustable temperature control.

Bought the portasol soldering iron in Ireland back in 1998. Worked great till needing the new tip. The new tip heats up faster than the original. Glad I was able to get this part and keep my soldering iron working.

I've been using this soldering iron for close to 20 years now. I wish it hadn't been discontinued. From occasionally doing light jobs to burning the whole canister of gas out building a pcb. These tips last. They won't give you 2 uses and quit like I experienced a couple days ago with the big name in soldering irons. That reminds me. I have to give the first bad review I've ever given.
