I bought this to replace my 19-year-old FR350, which P-C no longer will provide parts for. The updated FR350B has some advantages but doesn't seem as well-built. I like it, but I doubt this one will last another 19 years.Pluses:1) Loading nails is a lot easier; you just slide them in the end of the clip, and pull the spring clip back over them.2) There's an adjustment for nail depth now! That's a big improvement.3) There's a trigger safety and the auto-trigger is switch-selectable.4) There's a hanger clip, useful if you're working on a ladder.5) It's quieter. They've done something to the pressure vent system. Hard to describe, but it "pops" instead of "whooshes" the way the old one did.6) It supposedly can be set up to fire thicker JH nails into hangers. I seldom do that, so not tested.Cons:1) it's still heavy, roughly the same size and weight as the FR350.2) All the non-pressure parts, including the nail clip, slide, and hanger are made of plastic.3) The auto-trigger is still way too light. It's VERY easy to do accidental double-taps and one-and-a-halfs.4) The anti-mar tip is annoying and falls off if you hit it on things. Those things said, it's pretty nice. I gave it a workout last weekend, building a small deck. ~600 nails into 2-by material and composite decking, using 3 1/2" and 2" ring-shank nails, with no jams, which is better than the FR350 it replaced ever did. Still love the P-C tools! Also, the B&C Eagle 21 degree .131" nails that Amazon sells in 500 nail packs fit this perfectly, so you don't have to blow a Benjamin on 5,000-nail cases.

I worked on a house framing crew for several years. We always used the older Hitachi all metal framing nailers. When I moved on to another line of work, I still needed a framing gun for periodic building projects. I chose this model and ordered one that had been refurbished. Although I can't attest to how this holds up with full time usage, I will say that this Porter Cable makes a great part time nailer. No complaints so far. Weight feels familiar and comfortable to me.

I am a fan of Porter-Cable pneumatic nailers but this gun is a let down. I purchased it to replace an older Porter-Cable framing nailer that I absolutely loved and used for over ten years. I've used other framing guns and while I do like the Paslode, I thought that the savings and longevity of my other Porter-Cable framer was worth me buying another one. Here's where I have some issues though. I really, really dislike the plastic that's used in the nail clips. Every time I fire, I feel the plastic shards on my legs, arms, or hands. It can be rather painful if your hand is close to where you're nailing. I framed houses for a decade and I never wore eye protection when banging out walls but I wont use this gun with them. The second thing is that the safety is too sensitive for my liking. I really have to engage the safety mechanism in order to get the gun to fire. I've adjusted it so that it's better now but it's still not where I'd like it to be. On the flip side, the bounce mechanism works almost too well as it will fire off two nails rather quickly even when you don't want it.One last thing that I wish this gun had, although it shouldn't be something that would keep me from buying it, is a nail window on the back side of the nail feeder. It would be nice to be able to see how many nails I had in the gun when it's flipped over before I picked it up.Overall, it's a good gun and I don't see any major flaws.

Description says this is made in the USA which is the reason I purchased it. It's really a shame that there is no longer accountability in this country. People can straight up lie to you to sell their products and there is no repercussion. Now on to the nailer: Right away I noticed the cheap construction of this gun. A few minutes later I loaded it and hooked up the compressor only to find there was an internal leak. This is when I noticed the Made in Taiwan sticker. This one is definitely going back to the MFG along with a promise to NEVER purchase Porter Cable products again. I hope they enjoy their moment of greed and loyalty to Taiwan over the USA...

So far I've only used this on 1 project and that is a white picket fence. I can only estimate, but I'd say it saved 3-4 hours of nailing time, AND made life easier on my shoulders. I found the adjustable depth setting handy as the tips of the nails initially peeked out of the stud ever so slightly. The built in "hanger" came in handle when moving rails and it rotates back out of the way once you are holding the nailer in hand.I can only hope this lasts well into the future as I have many projects planned in the coming years, but for now my review is based only on a few months of use.

I bought this on a cyber Monday deal only because of the price which was just over $100 and I have wanted a framing nail gun for quite a while but could not justify the cost vs the amount of time I would use it. I have had porter-cable brad and finish nailers for years and these have never failed me so when I saw the deal I just had to buy it. This nail gun was everything I expected. I wish I had it when I was framing in my family room. I have tried 21 degree and 22 degree nails and both work fine. I also looked at the prices on line vs Home Depot and Lowes and actually found that Home depot had the correct Grip-rite nails at about 1/2 the price that you could get on-line. Understand that this is a great DIY nail gun for home owner projects but I would be a bit hesitant to put this into daily use as a contractor but then again at the price and performance you can go through 2 or 3 of these for the price of what many call pro grade
