4-ton stands are hard to find, but they’re great if you need a little more working height than 3-ton stands can offer, or you have a small SUV where the lower settings of the 3-ton stands are useless. These appeared to be decent quality. The four legs sat evenly on level ground, and the ratchets made respectable contact unlike in some recalled stands.

Making a stand/platform for our slide-in pickup camper. Wont come anywhere near testing the weight capacity, but they seem plenty strong. Identical to stands I've used in the past that we're much more expensive. Needed the 4-ton mainly for the added height over the 2 ton. If this matters, pay attention to the height difference between 2 - 4 - and 6 ton. Very different.

I’ve tested these with guidance from my brother who is a mechanic... I found them really difficult to use and quite wobbly...He feels that on one level they are well made but are not good enough to use safety as they do not have feet on them... these would level them out and make them safer...They should also only be used on concrete not tarmac as they can sink into tarmac when weight is put onto them.... cannot really recommend....

At £130+, the Powerbuilt 647529 Heavy Duty 4-Ton Jack Stands are not in the same league as those used by professional car mechanics but they more expensive than most used by the average person tinkering on the car and doing minor repairs. My son, who successfully shows his car at a national level and hence does a lot of work on his car has given me his opinion on the jacks. He deems that with all stands one would need to use a cloth on the top of the stand to protect the car's paintwork but in this case, he considers it vital as the finish on the top of the stand was found to be particularly aggressive. One of the stands would not stand squarely on the ground as one of the legs was too short, resulting in the jack moving from side to side.Lastly, he would not risk using them extended to their full height, due to the width being insufficient compared to the height, which he considered, possibly, made them unsafe.

Sturdy. Make sure of the clearance of your truck before purchasing. Too big for most cars.

After reading many bad reviews on other jack stands I thought I'd take a chance on these andI am pleased with the outcome. The welds are clean and tight, the finish is well done and ratchetmechanisms work without a problem --- that pretty much sums up all I expected from a simple item. These are very much like a set I bought 30 years ago and I expect they will last a long time. Theydo not have a large footprint where they meet the ground --- so for those who intend to place theseon something other than concrete, e.g. tile, linoleum, asphalt, dirt, they will most likely leave animpression or settle in some.
