I’m 62 years old. I just completed replacing the rear brakes on my 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. It sure was nice to have a comfortable mechanic’s seat to do the task. The seat is sturdy, and has enough under seat storage for your hand tools, supplies, etc. another bonus is that there is almost no assembly. The wheels are already installed on the base, just place the seat post in the base and then the seat on top. Budget friendly as well. Very satisfied with the purchase.

In theory this should be brilliant, but… The design is slightly not quite right as the small wheels are just that, small, and I found that by suddenly turning I was nearly falling off it because the angle of the base or size of it together with the small wheels seem to make it off-balance but if there was another inch or two on the corners to make the base wider all round, it might well sort this out. I thought perhaps this balance thing was down to me but my son and my neighbour also tried using it, although I did not say anything about the balance issue I had found with it, and they both arrived at the same result - the wheels are a shade too small and affect the overall balance. We have a reasonably level garage floor but I can’t see it performing any good on a slightly uneven floor all that well. The seat is nicely padded plus the ‘up n down’ action is quiet smooth with the tray its very handy although we all found that you can your balance trying to get a tool out of it while seating on it, and the reason for its design after all, as it’s more than likely you will topple over. Great design but the narrow base and small wheels let it down, hence three stars.Update: since writing the above review, I note that other customers/reviewers seem to comment about the wheels and makes one wonder are the manufacturers taking note at all as I see some comments are quite old.

This Powerbuilt stool is a great bit of kit for your garage/workshop. It was well packaged and well presented. The three parts were easy to assemble and seem very sturdy. The tray underneath is very useful to place tools that you are using at that moment, so they are always to hand when you need them. The only minor niggle (and it is a really minor point) is that the casters are a little small so they can get caught on uneven surfaces. This isn't too much of an issue, but it may throw you off if you are doing workshop races across the workshop with your mates! All in all a great bit of kit.

Easy to put together and in theory a good idea to save the back when working at lower levels. The reality is the product is not sturdy and at times found myself falling off.I also found it difficult to move around easily as the wheels seem to get stuck and not want to move. I would have expected more from something within this price range

Castors became harder to roll, the next day two literally fell apart. I have 2 different stools and have been using this one sparingly for about a year. I weigh 250# and have not had castors break like this on a chair or stool before.Seat vinyl is thin and has 2 rips. I've had a Rockler stool for longer and gets a lot more use but still looks almost new. The draw for this stool was the height adjustment and castors.I will replace the castors because I already have this stool, but I would NOT recommend this stool as a new purchase.** Edit 3/24/2015 **I didn't find stem castors the correct size, so I added a piece of 3/4" plywood to mount bolt-on castors. That's when I found the legs had also bent up a bit. But the legs bend easily so they straightened back out when bolted to the plywood.

Since I had replacement knee surgery I can't be on my hands and knees for long so I bought this to paint my mop boards and WOW it worked great for that.

I bought the product about a month and a half ago and thought it was a good product. While rolling around my garage floor last week I noticed the wheels starting to hang up on something on the floor. To my surprise the wheels were jamming up on the balls falling out from the bearings on two of the caster swivels. It's useless now until I outfit it with stronger casters. The product was not abused and used about once a week before failure occured. Comfortable seat and junk casters. Good luck.

I have had the stool for about 6 months, it was a fathers day gift. It worked well for moving in the crawl space in my home, until the wheels started to lock up and the one wheel fell off. It is now useless, I feel this was a waste of money and I will not purchase another item from Power Built.
