With an extra large, two-piece cast-iron table and balanced nine-spoke cast-iron wheel, the Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-Inch Woodworking Band Saw is a capable, user-friendly machine ideal for professional woodworkers and hobbyists. Its rugged design offers uncompromising accuracy and durability; while a host of innovative features let users tackle a range of heavy-duty jobs with precision and control.

Solid, Sturdy Backbone for Vibration-Free Operation
A huge iron casting provides a solid foundation that keeps the PWBS-14CS rigid and vibration free. The heavy-gauge, steel base cabinet adds to the unit's overall stability and provides a solid,vibration-absorbing base for the motor. Because dust collection does not pass through the base cabinet, its interior remains virtually dust free, reducing routine maintenance while enhancing the long life of the motor and drive belt.

To help improve visibility and the air quality of your shop, the PWBS-14CS features a four-inch diameterport cast into the lower housing, directly below the blade, for effective dust evacuation. And tokeep the cut line clearly visible, an integral air pump supplies pressurized air to an adjustable nozzleattached to the upper blade guide, resulting in a chip blower that provides a clear line.

Extra-Large Work Table
To effectively handle projects both big and small, the PWBS-14CS features an extra-large,two piece cast iron table with a tilting section measuring 15.0 x 15.0 inches and a fixedextension measuring 15.0 x 5.0 inches for a total working surface area of 15.0 x 20.0 inches.

Optimum Power and Drive
The PWBS-14CS is powered by a one and one-half-horsepower TEFC (totally enclosed fan cooled)industrial-style motor that comes wired for 115-volt operation, but can be converted to 230 volts. The motor power is delivered through a set of precision-machined multi-groove pulleys that aredriven by a poly-V drive belt system, known for its smooth, efficient transmission of power withvery little temperature buildup.

For their part, the cast-iron drive wheels are fully machined, painted, and fitted with high quality tires and then dynamically balanced to ensure smooth operation.

Easy Adjustments
With the PWBS-14CS, adjustments are never a problem, due to the blade width markings on thetensioning block for blade widths from one-eighth- to three-quarter-inch. The infiniteadjusting system also lets users dial in the correct tension for specialty blades that mayrequire non-standard tension settings.

This model comes with the legendary, Carter quick-release handle assembly that features three positions:full tension, relaxed tension, and full release. Users can move the Carter between all three positionswithout losing the tension setting, potentially lengthening the life of the blade.

User-Friendly Features
The PWBS-14CS also includes an exclusive design, quick-release, precision T-square-style rip fence withfour-inch re-saw attachment; 60-watt adjustable lamp (bulb not included) built into the body to providedirect light on blade and work piece while cutting; and a full six-inch under-guide capacity with 13-1/2-inch width capacity.

First off I want to say that this saw is everything I hoped for and more. It’s surprisingly quiet, easy to move around on its corresponding wheeled base, and it cuts like a dream with a good blade on it. With a 3/4 inch blade I can resaw whatever I want, but with a 3/16 blade I can do marquetry. I wish I had gotten one sooner. But the delivery was a disaster, almost twice.Initially, there was a used model available at a discount. I was stoked. It was listed as “Used, Good”, and it was discounted about 30%. So I ordered it, and took the day off work to accept delivery. When the Amazon delivery people showed up, they brought two boxes. I asked “Where’s the rest?” And the delivery people told me that was all they had. So it was delivered without the base cabinet and motor.Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. I got on the phone with Amazon customer service, and made arrangements for it to be returned. Then I turned around a reordered the same saw, brand new this time. Two weeks later, when it is delivered, they bring out one box, and that’s it. Again I ask “Where’s the rest?” And they tell me that that is all they have. This time, I ask if I can look in the back of their truck. My other two boxes were in there, but the delivery people did not know that. They said that there was no information telling them that it was a multi-box delivery, and then they thanked me for being so aware. Now I wonder if that’s what happened with the first delivery.Anyway, if you’re planning on having a multi package delivery in the future, be aware that you may need to be extra vigilant if you want to get all your stuff. At least it all was for a good cause. This saw is perfect.

Seems like a pretty good saw. I think I got a defective one. It jumps around when using it. I have heard good things about other people’s saw. I bought this one through amazon. I have had it for 4 months trying to get a refund.

I recently purchased the Powermatic band saw and I am very pleased with it. I also installed the 6" riser kit. I read a number of complaints about the instructions not being very clear, but I did not have any problems with the assembly. Powermatic has probably improved their instructions since some reviews were written. There was not one bolt, washer or nut missing. When adding the riser you will need at least one additional person, but two will be even better, to help hold the top half of the unit. You will only need their services for a few minutes. This is a heavy machine and well made. When you assemble it have, some patience and it will go together fine.Talk about fast delivery! I ordered it one day for no charge delivery) and the next day ABF was calling to set up an appointment to deliver it (I live in Arkansas and it came out of Tennessee). If you have it delivered to a place without a loading dock there is an extra charge for a lift-gate truck. I just arranged to pick it up at the ABF facility and saved a good chunk of cash. When you operate this saw you know that you are working with a professional grade piece of equipment. No vibration and no problem cutting through any thing I have tried. This is my third band saw and you can see the differences from the cast iron construction and wheels to the blade guides.

I hate to be the "fly in the ointment" for this machine but I was really disappointed in a machine for which I considered I paid top dollar. (For a 14" machine). In addition to sketchy assembly instructions, I was also missing a few bolts and had to revert to my jar of leftovers. When the time came to install the belt I found that the motor pulley was out of parallel with the saw pulley ... It seems the lower moter bracket was welded to the frame out of square. I was able to remedy the situation by putting a nut behind one of the mounting bolts and bending/twisting the motor bracket. Something I might expect to do on a "bottom of the line" machine. The machine runs well and cuts great (with a new blade) but already one of the (rear blade support) roller bearings has frozen up. Needless to say I was greatly disappointed in this machine.
