Axes are top notch. I own the German hatchet, the 1000g axe and I recently bought the training axe. Gransfors and hults can eat their hearts out. These axes are awesome and their customer service is excellent. My training axe came damaged and Monica sent me a new one with no questions asked. Plus she followed up. All in all prandi has the best axe on the market for the price. I’m no pro, but I’m an axe nerd.

Grain orientation is bad. Its 90° to the head. This handle will fail

Very nice axe right out of the box. I sanded off the polyurethane finish, stained it darkened with oil based stain and then oiled it to suit my taste. The blade is honed and SHARP.

In a market dominated by Swedish axes the Italian axes of Prandi are an excellent alternative. My 'German Style' axe came with a beautiful, tightly fitted 1000 gram head that was literally hair shaving sharp out of the box. The hickory handle was quality wood with proper grain orientation, and I was happy to see that the billboard sized 'Original Hickory USA' stamp in the product picture has been changed to a much more inconspicuous mark lower on the handle. The axe also included a leather sheath the goes on and off easily and is of decent quality.My only complaint is that the handle is on the thick side, and appears to be coated in some kind of varnish which will need to be removed in order to properly oil the handle. This is common to 99.9% of axes on the market now though, so that is no surprise.Overall Prandi axes represent a tremendous value for the price.
