I bought this to repair tug toys for my dogs. The very first attempt at a repair, the needle broke off in the tug toy.

Precision Quilting Tools Speedy Stitcher Sewing Awl: This awl is easy to set up, the spool is stored in the upper handle. The provided waxed thread is thick, but it still moves freely from the spool through the awl to the needle. The needles are sharp and will go through thick material such as layers of vinyl or leather. Great way to repair items that are too thick to be sewn even on my heavy duty machine or cannot be brought to the machine, such as some of my riding and driving tack or upholstery. Much easier than using a heavy needle by hand. Great for taking along camping in case there is a need for a quick tack repair. Comfortable handle and well-constructed.

My daughter-in-law works with all types of hand stitching and repairs. She'll like this tool as it looks well-made and evidently works as advertised.

I enjoy working with leather in my crafting projects and already own an American-made Speedy Stitcher, which I've been quite satisfied with. When I came across this imported Speedy Stitcher on my Amazon Vine list, I decided to give it a try. While the new tool is constructed from quality materials, it falls short in a few areas.Firstly, the needles it comes with are terribly blunt, which can make stitching work quite challenging. Fortunately, I have the equipment and knowledge to sharpen them myself, but for those who don't, it could be problematic.Another issue lies with the metal bobbin and its retainer. Unlike my American-made tool, this one has a bobbin that's trickier to install in the handle's pocket, and the retainer holding it in place is excessively tight, requiring the use of a screwdriver to remove it.Lastly, it came with no instructions, which will make it very difficult for those who are new to the game. It's disappointing because this tool has all the potential, but it needs better quality control to ensure it performs its job effectively.

I've used a Speedy Stitcher before and it's a very useful tool for sewing heavy materials like canvas, webbing straps or leather. And when the Vine program offered me one of these to review, I had to go for it. This tool feels well made and comes with two needles, a small spool of heavy thread and a small screwdriver. There are no instructions, but I assume the little screwdriver is for prying open the metal end cap that houses a metal bobbin to hold thread.A couple of minor cons with the tool I received are, as mentioned, there are no instructions whatsoever. You'll need to Google those. And, getting the metal thread spool inserted into it's recess in the handle is a little tricky. The axle of the spool is supposed to go through a hole in the end cap but there's no good way to get those aligned when assembling the end cap.

This speedy stitcher was easy to set up and easy to use. I bought it to secure part of my ice hockey goalie pads, and the tool did exactly what it said it would. Unfortunately, due to my inexperience with leatherwork, I couldn't pull off the fix I needed. If anything, I feel like the fact that even though I barely knew what I was doing, and still was able to effectively use the speedy stitcher speaks to how easy it is to use!If you are into leatherwork this feels like a no-brainer purchase.

This is one of those tools that you didn't know you needed until you learn how to use it. It's basically a way to hand-stitch tough materials, like leather, canvas, etc. This combines an awl (hole puncher) with a stitcher, so you can join or repair seams on durable items, like shoes, backpacks, sails, etc.The techniques are easy to learn and I suggest you watch a couple of videos online for directions on HOW to stitch. This particular stitcher is manufactured in China, it works totally fine, and it's a nice tool to have on hand for when you need it!
