I bought this pepper grinder because it was unique and had excellent reviews. I started using it on 4/29/24 and it worked ok until 5/19/24, when it completely stopped grinding any pepper. Disappointed with the quality and functionality.

After my pepper grinder broke internally, I set out on a journey of discovery to the world of pepper grinders. My own grinder's plastic spokes that hold the millstone in place broke. Most of the pepper grinders on Amazon use the exact same internals but with different external looks, and are nearly exactly the same as my old one. After browsing 20 pages, I found this one, which uses a slightly different internal design. It's listed as a grinder that can be used for either salt or pepper, and I'm using it for pepper.Pros: On using it, it's better and makes more pepper per turn than my old one. It comes with a lid, and sits upright to not spill pepper everywhere, which is a surprisingly rare feature. It's also not $80-$200 like the premium pepper mills. I paid $13.99 in early 2024, which is similar in price to similar quality grinders online. Other grinders of similar internal quality vary in price, but it's all based on external looks. I think this one looks interesting, and different than the rest.Cons: I'd rate it 5 stars but there are two minor issues. First, the central shaft that holds the ceramic stone in place is slightly off-center. This would interfere with grinding when the mill is set to the finest possible grinding setting, as it would hit the side ceramic "sleeve". But I like bigger pepper grounds instead, so it's not an issue. Second, the grinding setting screw is plastic, with no inner brass threaded insert like most other grinders have, so it could strip out easily. It's probably possible to get a brass nut with the same threading as the central shaft if needed, it's likely metric. I do not want a refund.Other Thoughts: It doesn't come with peppercorns. I actually like that, as I would rather use my own peppercorns, and it makes the item cheaper as peppercorns are expensive. FYI, I enjoy the multi-colored mix of peppercorns; it's tasty on many foods. Also be sure to wash this pepper grinder before filling it up, as the internals have ceramic dust on them from the factory. I took it apart and hand washed the pieces carefully, rinsed, let dry overnight, and reassembled. The top section unscrews from the glass bottom at the stainless steel ring, where the top and bottom meet. Then the top section can be taken apart by unscrewing the top adjustment screw, and taking out the millstone, and then spring. Write down the order in which the grinding section is assembled, to be reassembled again.

What I like about this product:- made from good quality materials- easy to use- fully adjustable / easy to adjust- grinder is at the top (which is less messy, my other one was at the bottom with no lid and it always got everywhere)- attractive design- lids to cover toppossible cons:- a bit smaller than my last one, but not a big deal to meOverall good product!
