I had one of these in my younger years and lost it. Can make all sorts of leather products with this awl. Sturdy and lasts a long time. Happy.

Great little tool. I'm a beginner/basic hobbyist, so I just do make stuff like holsters and belts, but it works like a charm. It's a bit smaller than I imagined, and I feel like the needles might bend if I use it on leather that's any tougher or thicker, but it does work. You gotta appreciate how such an old-school design is still very relevant today, it's genius really.... For the ones who aren't satisfied with the instruction printing, just check out a YouTube video or two and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

I purchased this tool to repair the rear window of my BMW convertible top. I had taken my car to a repair shop and was told that the top could not be fixed and that it would need to be replaced. The repair shop wanted $1500 for the new top. I found this tool for $20 and decided to give it a try. It worked great, I was able to sew the window back to the canvas top and saved myself $1480. I would recommend tool.

"Professional Speedy Stitcher Sewing Awl Hand Stitcher Repair Tool Kit for leather and heavy fabrics with 2 Pack Needles, additional coil and yarn/threads" was the advertisement. I'd love to use the product but since no needles were included, I've been looking for any reference telling me what to order since the vendor did not provide the "2 Pack Needles". The package includes absolutely no 'parts reference' so if this breaks or has any issues you'll have to spend another $20 or so to replace it. It also implies "additional coil". I'm assuming the one included is the "additional" coil.

The one critical capability that this device needs to have is to hold the needle. It's just a chuck that grips when you screw down the nut, but the nut bottoms out before the needle is tight. So when you push it through, you can't get it back out, because the needle pulls out of the chuck.I ended up doing the job using a pair of vice grips, worked just as well, and would have saved me $30 on a piece of junk. The only convenience that the stitcher adds is, theoretically, you can put thread on a spool inside the handle, assuming your job is small enough to fit on the spool. That would have saved me some hassle, as I ended up dropping the spool on the floor a few times and chasing it under the table. Aside from that, I'd seriously recommend skipping the stitcher and just using a pair of vice grips.

This thing was a bit confusing when I tried to use it but once I got the hang of this it works just great. I am trying to repair a soft sided dog crate that my dog clawed his way through. It's going to take some time, but I do a little bit every day - hopefully I will be able to use it again (it was expensive). For the price I think this is a handy item to have. It would be good for repairing heavy items like tents, back packs, soft luggage, etc. Four stars because it took a while to get the hang of it!

Heck of a nice product. I'm not much of a seamstress, but I got the youtube video out and learned how to do this and it was very easy. I even got my wife up to speed so there's another task that's been delegated....shop tent repair. She has no problem with it and that's fine with me...shes' a great lady and I know it. I'd buy this again, but only if I had a second wife and that probably isn't going to happen. Really, this is a nicely built hand tool and could be used for many things that need sewing repairs. It worked great to sew new buckles mounted to webbing back on on shop door.

This is OLD technology - I have been using similar tools for over 60 years and some of those were forty years older than I am. I had/have a project that needs a "Stitch Awl", I couldn't find mine, and I purchased a "Name Brand" item. It arrived and in less than an hour I was on line ordering the Co-link product. The "Name Brand" item was not usable. The Co-Link arrived two days later (Amazon Prime!) and I have been stitching away since then. I can not gush over the technology - it was perfected a century ago. Co-link implemented the very functional technology in a very functional manner. The needle fits in the holder and can be easily clamped in place. Sounds easy - but a well known brand name botched it. Thank You! Co-link for not being inventive! Your product does just what has worked well for a long time. "If it ai'nt broke, Don't Break It!" The Co-link product ain't broke!

This is a quality well-built, well-designed product. My only issue was in trying to follow the poorly printed and poorly designed instructions. However it was not at all difficult to find an excellent YouTube video. After maybe an hour working with the tool and the video I was able to complete a simple repair job on a small book bag. This is no small feat for a person with three left thumbs.
