It was a definite buy for piston assembly and checking bearing clearance was able to torque the rod ca-s to get a bearing clearance size.

Per some other suggestions, I lubed the main threads with clean grease when I initially assembled this Rod Vise. I used some plastic shims on either side of the base to keep my iron vise from marring the aluminum. This tool was great quality and once secured tightly in a bench vise, worked really well for rod disassembly, bearing assembly and torquing to check rod dimensions for clearances, and was really nice for final assembly of pistons on rods. Good investment for our engine projects.

This is a thing of beauty! This will work fine for my small shop. Just stick it in your vise and go at it! This is the right tool for torquing rods prior to checking them for sizing and roundness. Great for holding rods as you measure them or even when you lighten or balance them. Will not mar the rods.
